On Guard

 

I head towards the keep but as I approach I see that there seems to be more people than when I was here earlier. I go to walk in the same as last time but as I approach I get the feeling that if I approach much further standing out in the open they will see me. I think Intuition saved me there.

 

I stand confused just out of the range of the people guarding the gates to the keep. Stealth was supposed to make me unable to be sensed unless people had Presence Detection. Confused, I Analyze the Stealth skill in my Status.

 

'Stealth' is a skill that masks any signs of yourself, including sound, smell, presence, magic power and more importantly sight.

 

Hmmm. I'm not getting any clues so I try to focus my mind on the information the skill has put directly into my mind. Hmmmm.

I kind of get it but it's a little confusing and does not provide anything else. It seems the Stealth skills only masks your presence and makes you unnoticeable but if people are actively paying attention or are in an excited state then it seems that you can be noticed.

 

Hmmm. I look at the Quest and Point List for help but the Quest remains unchanged and I am currently out of Points. It did say this was a Medium Quest. From what I got from Analyzing everything earlier it seems this is harder than normal Quests.

 

I wanna kill that bad guy lord but people are guarding all of the entrances.

 

As I stand there frustrated I see something fly over the fence guarding the keep.

Analyze gives me information about the animal but it's just a normal. It seems with lesser taming skills you can use the Ability of the animal and it's not something it can use on its own. Although it seems useful for the future it's not what has me excited. Excited and embarrassed.

 

How can I be so stupid as to forget what happened to me a couple of hours ago. How can I be so stupid as to forget what is literally poking out of my back. Well to be fair I didn't know that the wings I had could make me fly until I saw that bird. 

 

I take off my shirt and extend my wings as much as they can. Properly looking at them now they are the same color as my hair, black at the base and changing into purple towards the ends. They extend just beyond the range of my arms but only by another hand or so. I get the feeling I should Identify them so I go ahead only to be shocked by what it tells me. It seems like if I channel magic power into my wings I can gain a few seconds of Flight. From what I understand I gain 5 seconds of flight for each point I have in Magic. I don't open my Status often as changes get told to me but now I understand that I should check it every now and then.

It seems that my Tail is giving me an extra 5 points of Magic so I assume it's the same as the physical strength skill.

 

I probe my Intuition skill and it seems they won't notice if I fly over the fence away from the entrance, I place my shirt in the bracelet and put some magic power into my wings, I then flap them once powerfully and end up rocketing into the air. I get nervous for a second but it's quickly gone and I utilize the leftover magic power in my wings to glide over the fence and into the keep. 

 

I might need to use my wings so I leave my shirt off. I know that everyone is supposed to wear clothes because of Analyze but it seems so inconvenient. I won't have any clothes that actually fit me until tomorrow. I only barely have something covering my bottom since I got that skirt from where I escaped from, I don't think that the pants that were there would fit my tail.

 

I head towards the door to the kitchen that the bad guys were using earlier and it seems that everyone is moving busily. Judging from my Intuition it seems that only the soldiers here will sense me if I get too close, for some reason the cooks and other staff won't sense me at all. Once I enter the room the head lady that was giving orders says something and everyone gathers together, she's the one that helped me find the lord so I wait and listen to what she says now.

 

“Everyone! It seems the lord's actions have finally caught up with him and both the Guild and the Kingdom are sending people to capture him. I have already arranged things on the outside to minimize our punishment and as long as we don't resist and cooperate, once they arrive everything will go smoothly for the staff here.” There is a wave of relief and happy sounds among the people here, I don't get it. Why is the guild letting all of these bad guys off the hook?

 

“However.” Everyone goes silent again. “We have to maintain the guise that everything is ok to the Lord as he is making his preparations to escape now. Unfortunately he is a useless man who doesn't know how to take care of himself and has to have at least one maid and one cook accompany him in his escape. From what I have been made to believe it is nigh impossible for him to escape right now but we all know how tenacious he can be. I am essentially asking 2 staff to voluntarily sacrifice themselves as they will either escape with him and have to serve him where he ends up, be saved and spared by whoever captures him or die in the battle to capture him.”

 

“I will go.” One man steps forwards. He looks… softer than all of the men I have seen. For some reason I think he isn't a bad guy. “I am happy with all of the options. I want to see the look on that bastard's face when he finally gets taken down.”

 

“Then I will as well.” A maid girl steps forward. It's the one who led me to the lord's office earlier, except shes not looking at the head lady or looking serious like the cook man is, she is looking at the cook man who stepped forward with intense eyes. Maybe she is a bad guy who hates what the cook man said?

 

After they discuss a few more things, none of which I understand, the cook man and intense maid girl head down the hallways. I follow close behind but for some reason the maid girl seems really happy. Does she like that she gets to be the one to travel with the lord? We finally enter a room that has the lord and a few guys who look like the guards but have one of the Slave Collars on. For some reason Intuition isn't telling me anything about the guards so I assume they won't be able to see me. I Analyze the lord in preparation.

He has one of the highest levels I have seen but his Status seems really low for some reason. I might be able to understand more if I level up Analyze but for now I'll have to live with it. Territorial Lord isn't a bad guy job for some reason he doesn't have a bad guy job so I don't know, in the end it doesn't matter. I have to kill him. It's the quest, I'll just have to find a way to get around the Record Reading the guild does.

 

I do however get the feeling that it won't be good if people know that I killed the lord. From everything that I have heard around me I don't think it is supposed to be that simple, otherwise the Guild would have done so a long time ago. I don't have anything that can specifically hide my Identity so I’ll just do what I can.
