The next day Kaneki woke up first. By the time he freshened up and was preparing his breakfast Rize awoke aswell. He could tell it from the embrace he was receiving from the back as he prepared the breakfast.

"What are you doing Rize?" Kaneki asked after seeing that Rize showed no signs of putting her hands down anytime soon.

"Just giving my partner a morning hug." Rize replied.

"Don't you think you've been hugging me for quite some time now Rize?" Kaneki asked as he finished up his work.

"Is it bad for me to do so Kaneki San?" Rize replied teasingly.

Kaneki turned around and passed the cup of coffee he had just made to Rize as he said "Not bad at all. Just don't do it when I'm handling something hot."

Rize took the cup of coffee from Kaneki's hand and said before taking a sip "Alright, I won't do that." 

Rize sipped the coffee and said genuinely "Tastes good. Thanks" 

"It's good? Let me taste it" With that Kaneki leaned forward and kissed Rize. The coffee stain that was on top of her lips was no longer their.

After separating Kaneki said as he licked his lips "Indeed, it tastes good."

Rize who was took in by surprise soon recovered and felt warm inside. It was most probably the effect of coffee but she believed that it's her heart warming up because of Kaneki. 

Soon after they both sat on the table facing each other. One ate his breakfast while the other just looked at the other eating while sipping her coffee from time to time.

After finishing his meal Kaneki stared at Rize who was now wearing the T-shirt he wore last night. It was his habit to not wear a T-shirt when he was at home so Kaneki didn't minded it but what he did mind was her blatant staring.

Facing her Kaneki asked "What's the matter?" 

"Kaneki San seeing you eat so happily I also feel hungry now...so could you help me with it." Rize said.

Kaneki finally realised that Rize har been eyeing him as a delicacy till now. He couldn't help shook his head and chuckled and while at it he signalled Rize towards his neck.

Rize was clearly delighted when she got the signal from Kaneki. She slowly stood up from her seat and walked towards Kaneki.

"Kaneki San.... I'll be gentle." Rize said as she sat on Kaneki's lap and slowly bit Kaneki's traps muscles.

Sounds of flesh tearing entered Kaneki's ears along with a tinge of pain. After taking a while Rize pulled out her face from Kaneki's already healing wound. Rize slowly chewed on it making sure to taste all of Kaneki's flesh before gulping it.

"mhmmm delicious~ Thanks for the meal Kaneki San." Rize said as she wiped the blood from her lips.

Kaneki didn't mind it as his wound was already healed by now and instead changed the topic "You should talk with the people at Anteiku now. The sooner the better." Kaneki said.

Rize nodded as she slowly got up from Kaneki's lap and said "Alright, I'll do that. 

Rize soon went to freshen herself and Kaneki too started getting ready as he needed to go to university today to inform them about his decision and to also collect the necessary certificates.

By the time Kaneki was ready Rize cane out of the bathroom. Seeing her Kaneki pointed at his cupboard before saying "Take what you need, I need to go now so don't forget lock the door before going."

After passing the spare key to Rize Kaneki went out. On the way to the university he met Touka who was going with her friend to school. Her eyes showed a small hint of surprise seeing him still alive but she managed to skillfully ignore him as she passed. Kaneki also did the same.

After reaching the university Kaneki just did what he needed to do. He went to the administrative building and talked to the respective person about him dropping out of his course because he wanted to join the Ghoul Investigators Training Academy.

The person was quite helpful and quickly completed all the things that needed to be done and Kaneki finally was no longer a student of Kami University. 

With his documents now at hand Kaneki left the university fully prepared now to join the Ghoul Investigator Training Academy. On the way back just near his University he saw a library type coffee shop. It was most probably the one where Tsukiyama took Kaneki in the anime if he was right.

Kaneki went inside the coffee shop and ordered a coffee along with a pastry. He took one random book from the shelf and started slowly going through it while drinking his coffee and taking a bite from his pastry from time to time.

The book piqued his interest and without being aware he had been there at the coffee shop for more than one and a half hour. The staff didn't let him notice it as they kept on filling his cup whenever it was nearing its end.

"That's an interesting book." A voice disturbed Kaneki from his reading state and he couldn't help but look at the source of the voice.

A smiling face of Eto was looking at him as she said "Oh, sorry I just couldn't help but voice out my silly thoughts when I saw you reading that book so seriously." 

Kaneki nodded at her response as he said "It's alright, the book is indeed interesting I didn't thought I would get so engrossed in it before reading it."

"I feel you. It was the same for me and before I knew it was already night..." Eto paused for a while before continuing "Oh my bad I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Takatsuki Sen." 

Kaneki shook the hand that was directed towards him and said "I'm Kaneki Ken. Nice to meet you."

Seeing his response Eto smiled even further and asked "If you don't mind can I share the table with you Kaneki kun?"

Kaneki agreed and Eto proceeded to keep her hand bag down as she sat on the chair. "Kaneki Kun...pardon my over zealous behaviour but I like getting to know new people a lot and you look like an interesting person. Would you mind sharing a few things about yourself with me?"

"Eh? Well that's a new way to start a conversation Takatsuki san." Kaneki said to which Eto chuckled.

"Well there's nothing much interesting about me... I'm a university student...was...I just dropped out of my course today inorder to give the entrance exam to join the Ghoul Investigators Training Academy....as for my likes just reading books I would say..." Kaneki said.

"Oh you want to join the CCG? That's great. I like valorous young men like you. Any particular reason you want to join it?" Eto asked.

"Well though it sounds contradictory I want to join it to live a safer life. In this world where one can be attacked by ghouls anytime it would be much safer to live as ghoul investigators as atleast I'll have the ability to defend myself and the family security is a bonus." Kaneki said.

"Oh that's something new. I was expecting some tragic story." Eto said with a hint of disappointment.

Kaneki looked at his watch before saying with a chuckle "Well sorry for disappointing you Takatsuki San. I've been here for longer than expected so I should go now. It was nice meeting you."

"The feelings are mutual Kaneki Kun. Hope we meet again soon." Eto said while shaking his hand. 

Kaneki soon left the coffee shop and was going back home. The only thing he needed to do now was to prepare for the exam so he went to the nearest bookstore that lied on his way home and bought a bundle of books that he needed for his exam.

The rest of the week was spent on revising the books so that he won't find the entrance exam troubling. During these days Rize visited from time to time and after spending the night with him she would go to Anteiku.

She told that the people at Anteiku didn't wanted her at first but they soon agreed on the condition that she would no longer hunt humans for fun.

Kaneki was happy that Rize had successfully joined the cafe. He told her to keep an eye of all things happening their and inform him about it. For now there was nothing much going on at Anteiku.

Sunday soon arrived and Kaneki did the exam with ease. It could be said that he was the most relaxed in the entire exam hall. The original really had a good brain.

The results of the exam would be coming three days later so during that time he was relaxing at home. Three days later Kaneki got an email regarding him being selected for the interview that would be taking place two days later in the nearest academy.

The interviewers would check his personality and mental health to check whether he was fit for the job or not. It also was considered the toughest to clear by the aspirants. Kaneki however was quite confident in clearing it. Kaneki himself didn't knew where the source of his confidence stemmed from.
