In this part things will be happening a bit too fast for my liking, but because I suck as social interactions, I am unable to write a good conversation essential here.

I was confusedly staring at this dragon who just spoke to me. I mean not literally, since it used my telepathy to send back the message, still, it didn’t change the fact that I was now staring at a facepalming dragon. I was still a bit mad at it stopping my full out attack, but the confusion was stronger.

[“I had no idea you were intelligent.”]

Yes, that was the matter that was now on my head. I didn’t know there were intelligent monsters on this world apart from my mother, and the creature I discovered definitely proved that they existed. The only place where I would search for monster like that would be a nest of some species that had a queen on top so my surprise was justifiable.

[“How can ancient dragon not be intelligent? Or do I resemble a wyvern or other lower dragon that much that you have mistaken me for one?”]

Well, you definitely can’t say he looks like a lesser dragon or wyvern. In fact, I’ve never felt a presence that imposing. Well, apart from the caped guy… and my mother… and maybe the gods…
That doesn’t matter, he just definitely isn’t something lesser.

It sure does lack a lot in matter of this labyrinth, but it also contains a lot of information on monsters that live outside, and there is absolutely nothing on ancient dragons, even if normal ones have quite detailed reports on them.

I have no idea when did I start to use this weird knowledge quirk as a pocket library, but it sure was handy, even if it was lacking. Now that I knew that I knew nothing about this dragon, I decided to try and not make it angry, since he already showed me, how insignificant I am compared to him.

[“So, now that I know that we can talk, are going to kill me or not?”]

There wasn’t really any harm in asking that, so I decided I prefer to know.

[Why would I? You really think I would go as far as forcibly taking you out of the safe zone simply to kill you? It took almost all of my mana and a large chunk of my health to do this stunt, and I can only hope the goddess won’t kick me out because of that.”]

Oh, so I might be less dead than I thought. Now I just need to hear why did he go as far as he did. I won’t get another creepy stalker will I? There is already the caped guy who always appears out of nowhere, I don’t need any more fans.

[“The reason I wanted you to come here is because I have something to give you, and because the stairs to the next floor are in this cave. I’m sorry if it was too forceful.”]

When he said that I finally noticed that we were in another cave, and also that he was holding a small stone in his claw. So small in fact, that it was barely noticeable. It had a hypnotizing glint, and I found myself drawn to it. I felt as if this stone was something I desperately needed, I wanted it will all my heart, momentarily losing myself to its shine.

I wanted to reach for this stone, but something unexpected happened.

[“I will be taking that.”]

Yup, the caped guy again. Wait, why is he taking my stone? Wait, it’s not mine. Well I was about to receive it so it counted as almost mine, that’s why he was currently stealing from me. I was unable to react in time, but the dragon was much faster than me, and quickly swung at him, with speed that easily broke the sound barrier.

And yet he missed. He missed by a large margin, that normally would be unreasonable given the speed of his attack. The caped guy didn’t even move, it seemed like the whole world moved while he stayed in place, just to make the dragon miss.

It was so unreasonable, that all I could do was to stare in shock.

[“Give it back you treacherous bastard!”]

Another unexpected thing was that the dragon already seemed to know him. I’m not sure how much of this shout transferred to the guy however, because it was still my telepathic channel he was using. Surprisingly the guy answered.

“I can’t blame you for thinking I betrayed her, but once again I will say, there was nothing I could do back then. Also rest assured, I will give this stone to the spider, but she’s not ready yet. Now I will have to excuse myself.”

He bowed politely and then disappeared.

As unreasonable as ever. I simply couldn’t understand what he was thinking, appearing always out of nowhere, doing things seemingly not allowed by common rules of the world. But I noticed something else, now that the stone was gone, so was my obsession over having it. I still feel like it was something important for me, but I don’t feel the intense need to have it now.

[“I’m sorry, this stone belonged to someone related to you, and I let him take it.”]

He seemed somewhat depressed about this situation.

[“More importantly, do you know who was this guy?”]

I didn’t really care for the stone, since he said I will still have it. I was much more concerned about his identity, and about why was he following me like that.

[“I know him better than I would like to, he’s a mortal enemy of this world.”]

Huh?

I'm currently thinking about launching a patreon, with something like "buy a chapter" similar to webtoon. What do you guys think about that idea?
