Just now I had an ingenious thought, judging from all situations that involved me leveling up the [Luck of the heavens] I think I could safely assume it would evolve into something akin to a [Plot armor] when it will reach level 10. I mean, how ridiculous it is to be saved from a swarm of hungry fairies by an inter-dimensional traveler that just happened to teleport right in.

Sure, he was searching for me to ask for a way, but the timing at which he appeared was just too perfect, and considering the fact that I probably won’t meet him ever again, it looks like a cheap attempt from the author who writes a fantasy story to… I have no idea why would someone add a character like that.

Well, this isn’t someone’s written story right? This is life, so a guy like that appearing out of nowhere should just be a result of my extraordinary luck. By the way, I wonder if there’s a title or a skill related to being a philosopher, because I had a lot of internal disputations and didn’t get anything like that. Even this gas from earlier didn’t help at all.

Moving on, Felicia was now sleeping soundly on my back while I was casually trotting in the direction of the red light. No monsters attacked us, I couldn’t even hear any rustling in between the mushroom trees nor I could see any movement in the dim light exuded by them. If the air became still, I could  swear that the time itself stopped, but nothing like that happened.

In the end, we reached the light without any problem, and it made me grateful to the space guy for scaring everything in the close proximity. What before seemed like a red light was actually an entrance to another zone, I could see clearly what was there because it was behind a slope, and currently I couldn’t afford to climb with both me and Felicia being exhausted.

Fortunately there was rather a big circle of light surrounding the place that informed us about its purpose when we entered. It was a safe zone. There was a small water spring on the wall, so I used it to wake Felicia up. Well, I just stuck her head under the trickling water and waited while watching her so she wouldn’t drown.

Her awakening unexpectedly, wasn’t an abrupt one. Normally I would expect her to jump out of the water and disappear in the distance, but right now she was greedily drinking the water falling at her face. I’ve never seen her so thirsty before, the slow trickle of water wasn’t nearly enough to satisfy her. I had to actually take out one goatskin we got from the slavers and filled with water before so she could drink from it.

Wow, there was good two liters of water in it, and she emptied it in less than thirty seconds! What was even more interesting was that there was no sign on her that she just drank that much water, her stomach just took it all without a groan and she was left being as skinny as ever.

That should have revitalized her, and sure enough, about a minute later she was back to her full strength and energy. While I was still trying to catch my breath, she already recovered from passing out… I guess I’m getting old if I envy youngsters their energy. What about her being older than me? That doesn’t matter, in our relationship I play the role of the guardian.

After something close to a day of rest we finally decided to climb up the slope. It was placed inside a massive hole in the wall, and I was seriously wondering why there weren’t stairs in its place, but I kept quiet about it. It wasn’t really hard to climb, but my spider physiology most likely made it easier for me. As for Felicia, if she struggled even a bit, she didn’t show it.

But no matter how tough she was trying to look, after I saw her collapsing before, I decided to never let that happen again. No matter how big of a genius she was and no matter how much energy existed in her tiny body, she was still just a small child, and still wasn’t fully recovered. I picked her up and sat her on my back ignoring her surprised look. She must still be a bit weak from yesterday’s run, so there’s no way I would let her climb a steep slope.

It didn’t look like she disliked being carried, so I continued climbing while being careful to not throw her off. I’d like to say I did a pretty good job, but I actually had no idea if her staying on my back was due to me being careful or her clinging to me with all her strength. Well, I could only hope that it was less tiring than climbing this slope.

By the way, why was it getting so hot there? The closer we came to the edge the higher the temperature became, to the point I was wondering if it would start to drain my hp. I hoped with my entire being that the thing we will see beyond the edge wouldn’t be what I was imagining it to be.

And with great disappointment, maybe closer to despair, it was exactly that.

Welcome to a lava floor!

That’s not copying ok? That’s taking inspiration
