My Transmigration Target Is Wrong As I Expected!

A night in Beika was a night in every big town in Japan. With life gravitating towards the red light district, the streets became vacant, with barely seen passerby every now and then.

Inside a dark room, the shadow of a man sitting on a bed was reflected on the wall, framed by the moonlight slipping from an open window of the three stories building. The shadow's head swayed slightly, before its hand reached the switch of the lamp hanging above him.

With the lights on, the man could finally look around the room. It was very narrow, like the typical design of rooms in the jam-packed area of Japan. The cold wind of night fell on his body, reminding him of his state of undress. His clothes from yesterday were scattered all over the floor. The alarm clock atop the bed drawer showed just a minute past midnight.

All of those facts did little to calm his anxious mind, however, as a thought keep repeating inside his mind:

'Where the hell am I?'

When Samuel 'Sam' Hung woke up from his slumber, he could not keep the groan of agony coming out of his mouth from the splitting headache that he felt. Rubbing his fingers along the crease of his forehead to ease the pain, he slowly gathered his wits.

He only got blurry images when he thought about what happened last night. It's so vague, that he didn't know whether they really happened or not. The exact sequence escaped him, but the feelings remained, of love, bitter and sweet, caked with apologetic regret, and wistful fondness. Alongside those feelings, the name that brought them from within his chest:

Eri...

'Wait a second.'

Blinking his eyes in disbelief, Sam finally noticed something abnormal about the whole situation. He was a hundred percent sure that he did not know someone named Eri before- but now he had years of memory about her!

Sam quickly got up from the bed and went out of the room. His naked body was tumbling in what appear to be an office, before he found a mirror sitting on a cupboard. He stared at his reflection, an expression of growing dread was captured by his widening eyes.

The person staring at him from within the mirror looked exactly like Kogoro Mouri, from the Detective Conan animation series!

His facial features, his hairstyle, and his moustache were practically identical with that good-for-nothing drunk in the anime!

'Did I transmigrate into the wishy-washy detective's body?'

Sam tried to remember his day before he got here. He was walking in front of the local bookstore when he saw the ad for the newly released volume of Detective Conan series. He ended up buying it, before he went back to his apartment.

He was immersed in the book, and just finished reading it when the old and dilapidated chandelier hanging above him fell down, and everything went dark.

After that, Sam woke up. His mind hazy from the body's drunken state, and his memories and that of Kogoro Mouri melded into one.

And one of the memories was of Kogoro's- his wife; him holding her beautiful body, while they made love countless times.

Just like that, Sam became the extremely lecherous, waste-of-space uncle. A useless detective who would get shot unconscious with an anesthetic needle every time there's a case, and never suspected a thing afterward. The goddamn Kogoro Mouri!

'What a shitty web novel cliche' cursed Sam in his heart. The hangover from last night drinking still didn't leave his body, and the transmigration certainly didn't help either. The stain left on his body from the night before also left him uncomfortable.

'To hell with this. I should just calm myself in the shower first.'

Sam walked past the door to his office bedroom and entered the bathroom. He turned on the shower, and the warm water sprayed down his head, washing away the sticky feeling on his skin. Five minutes of letting the water shed away his worries, Sam felt refreshed. His muscles were practically brimming with unfamiliar strength.

Sam continued to ruminate about the situation he was in. He broke through the realm of reality and came to the world of Detective Conan without meaning to; but strangely, he didn't feel that unhappy at all.

The reason was simple, there wasn't a lot happening in his life before he got here. Sam had dated before, but all of his past relationships never last more than six months. His job as a regular low level employee also wasn't able to give him satisfaction.

The only thing that spurred him to keep going was his hobby as an entertainment enthusiast.

On the other side of the coin, Kogoro Mouri, at one point of time had all the things Sam wanted. A beautiful wife, a cute daughter, and a noble job as a policeman. Too bad he squandered his relationship with such a high-class woman. Eri Kisaki loved him so much that a little bit of affectionate gesture would bring her back to his embrace. Such a shame that Kogoro's pride as a certified horn dog wouldn't allow him to swallow his pride and be chained to one woman.

With that being said, although he wasn't in the most advantageous position, an interesting life still awaits him as one of the main supporting characters in this crime-ridden world.

'With a little bit of effort, I can be famous, have a smoke-show of a wife, and have a harmonious family life.'

As soon as the word family popped up, Sam's thought went to Ran Mouri, and he couldn't help but lament the cruelty of fate.

A genius karate practitioner with a character as pure as angel, she was his favorite character from the anime. If there was any anime character that he wanted to be intimate with, it would be Ran. But unexpectedly, she became his daughter in this life!

Wouldn't he be a worse kind of animal than the original Kogoro Mouri if he were to woo his own daughter?

'It would be a different story if incest is more common here than back home.'

***

As time went on, Sam began to accept the memories left by Kogoro Mouri as his own. But the more he shifted through them, the more surprised he became.

Still steaming from the hot water, Sam's expression was inexplicable. He muttered, "Kogoro Mouri, you are really a bag full of surprises. Having watched the animation for so many years, I thought I knew everything about you; but who knows that your exploit is actually worthy of this bro's respect. Heh."

Turns out, the Kogoro Mouri that he replaced was vastly different from the one he watched in the past. Some key things remained the same, but the detail changed not only Sam's perception of the character, but also how Sam viewed the entire plotline!

He went through the last bit of Kogoro Mouri's recollection of his past relationships, when a strange, robotic voice rang out in his mind.

A/N: Thank you for giving my fic a chance! This started as an MTL edit, but I decided to add my own flair to make it easier to read. I'll probably started uploading the next few chapters a day or two after I upload this one, so please stick around if you have time!
