Peter 5:8
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
“I was definitely trying to use it just now…” Izuku muttered to himself in astonishment.
Shota pulled off his scarf dramatically. His shaggy hair started floating up ignoring the pull of gravity revealing his eyes that were now glowing a bright red shocking Izuku.
“I erased your Quirk. That entrance exam was definitely not rational enough. Even a kid like you was accepted.” Shota explained.
“You erased my Quirk? Those goggles... I see! You can erase other people's Quirks with your Quirk just by looking at them. The Erasure Hero, Eraser Head!” Izuku exclaimed.
“Eraser?"
"I don't know him."
"I've heard of him."
"He's an underground hero."
Various voices were heard from the crowd of students animatedly discussing the teacher.
James pulled out his smartphone pulling up a video of Shota's hero persona Eraserhead fighting some villains. Momo, Himiko, Toru, Tsuyu and Mina that were standing with him huddled around watching the video while James enjoyed the attention with all of them pressing their bodies up against him to get a good look.
He "innocently" wrapped his arms around Toru and Mina's waists settling his hands on their hips without them even noticing due to being so engrossed in the video of Eraserhead's heroics. He was rather brutal with his focus on close range combat. Due to the lack of physique enhancement from his quirk Eraserhead had to really put effort into beating up the villains leading to longer protracted fights.
After a few moments they notice their ambiguous position and blushed profusely while backing off a little, unsure how to react. Only Himiko and Momo were shameless enough to stay and make their positions even more ambiguous causing the other three to blush even harder at their daring behaviour.
"T-thanks..." Toru barely managed to mutter. She was blushing profusely, but didn't look away. It was probably a side effect of not being able to be seen. She felt shame and embarrassment, but her reactions were off because she was used to people being unable to see her reactions.
Tsuyu nodded in agreement, but he could see she still had a light blush and her gaze was slightly vacant as if her mind was elsewhere.
Only Mina seemed like she recovered from the embarrassment quite easily, sporting a wide smile now as if she had won something.
“From what I can tell, you can't control your Quirk, can you? Do you intend to become incapacitated again and have someone save you?” Shota accused.
“Th-That's not my intention—“ Izuku stammered, he wasn't convincing anyone though and seeing him try to argue Shota controlled his scraf to bind Izuku pulling him close towards him glaring into his eyes.
“Whatever your intention, I'm saying that's what those around you will be forced to do. In the past, there was an oppressively passionate hero who saved over a thousand people by himself and created a legend,” Shota said reminiscing.
“Even if you have the same reckless valor... ...you'll just be decked and turn into a useless doll after saving one person. Midoriya Izuku. With your power, you can't become a hero,” Shota warned.
Everything returned to normal. His hair dropped back down, the red glow in his eyes dissipated and his scarf wrapped itself back around his neck. It was like none of it had even happened.
“I’ve returned your Quirk. You have two turns for the ball throw. Hurry up and get it over with,” Shota said dismissively ready to kick Izuku out of his class.
"Alright, watch closely," James said.
The girls nodded seriously making sure to pay attention to Izuku who wasn't looking very confident right now.
That wasn't too out of the ordinary as he was a little ball of insecurity between growing up bullied and being quirkless until just a year ago. That wasn't the kind of thing you just got over, even with a pep talk from your idol.
He didn't even mind if Izuku managed to impress them. Izuku lacked rizz so badly he struggled to make any real progress with a girl that absolutely adored him, let alone girls that were already interested in James instead. There was nothing to fear for him. Quite the opposite, Izuku should be the worried one. Ochaco was already forming a good impression of him despite him actually avoiding flirting with her and only being polite with her.
“It looks like he received some advice,” Ida said thoughtfully.
“Probably just telling him he's expelled,” Kastuki snorted dismissively.
“Are you worried about him? I'm... ...not at all,” Yuga told Ochaco.
“Who are you?” She asked him in confusion. Despite being completely disregarded it didn't seem to impact his undeserved confidence.
Izuku seemed to be staring down at the ground muttering to himself in despair. Eventually he looked up with a determined glare drawing back his arm for the second time.
Izuku threw the ball with desperation, but at the last moment before the ball left his hand the index finger still on the ball glowed red gaining a ridiculous amount of speed launching the ball like a rocket while yelling out loudly “Smash!”
James hearing him shook his head knowing Izuku's All Might obsession would harm him a lot before he got over the worst of it, but he had no intentions of interfering with it. Just because he didn't have any intent at taking Izuku's spot didn't mean he felt like helping him either, if he had to be honest he found the Izuku character to be rather pathetic even when it was just a book. Let alone now that he had to watch an actual person with that life and mindset. He would rather keep a respectable distance between the two of them.
The ball easily flew further than James had thrown his own, possibly even further than Katsuki's throw. Of course he couldn't compete with Ochaco and Momo who had managed to get absolutely ridiculous scores, but it was commendable none the less.
It seemed he had succeeded in the throw, but his index finger looked like he had tried pulling something out of a garbage disposal while it was still turned on.
Izuku was grimacing in pain, but clenched his hand with determination “Teacher... I can... …still move!” he said through the pain, but with a clear sense of victory.
'He is awfully proud for someone who is still in dead last despite this throw,' James though inwardly shaking his head at the protagonist. He was lucky that he was a shonen protagonist which meant his determination would simply convince his teacher not to kick him out despite technically still failing the test set out before him.
“This kid…” Shota exclaimed in surprise.
"Did you know?" Momo whispered in his ear out of curiosity.
"Just a suspicion," James answered nonchalantly.
“Finally a hero-like record,” Ochaco yelled out in celebration waking the other classmates from their stupor.
“His finger is swollen. There was the entrance exam too. He has a strange quirk…” Ida pondered.
“What is the meaning of this?” Bakugo yelled in outrage.Uncontrolled explosions forming on his palms.
“Hey!” He yells running at Izuku.
“Tell me what’s going on, Deku, you bastard!” He yelled reaching for Deku aggressively.
Before he is able to get a few steps out James seeing a good opportunity backhands him sending him to the ground though.
He got the pleasure of slapping the pompous asshole and at the same time looked like he was defending the innocent Izuku.
Bakugo wasn’t going to take it lying down though and immediately flipped back onto his feet and lunged at James wanting to exact revenge.
"You bastard, I'll fuck you up!" he yelled, his rage stoked even further.
Before he could even get his hands on him James, who was already in a fighting stance, deflected his arm keeping the dangerous palms away from him. Katsuki couldn't even respond before James used the opening created to give Katsuki a thrashing with a flurry of well placed punches and elbows to the gut and face.
Katsuki brought his hands together as if he was planning on performing some kind of finishing move, but before they could progress both of them were wrapped up tight in Shota's scarf and the explosion that Katsuki was trying to create fizzled out as if the plug was pulled on it.
Wonder if Aizawa's quirk works on James. Aaannyways Thanks for the chapter.
ohoh, do you know what mc can do with aizawa? he can make him say that he won't use his quirk on mc unless he does something that he classifies as evil or use some loophole on the contract, when he say yes he won't be able to use it on mc and if he uses it aizawa is dead
@plot_xc yhea but considering aizawa wouldn't break that promise during combat whit villains but only during class or training a certain lie detecting detective might ask the mc if he has anny idea how his teacher died while fighting him during his exams for example not being able to lie would make him a murderer and i doubt he wants that (also it reveals his best trump card better to only use it on people you actually want death)
@Kratos370 yknow that right now the only person that can make mc useless and make him lose is aizawa right? Him being sent to prison after killing the biggest obstacle isn't that much of a price
@plot_xc that's assuming James' quirk isn't considered a Heteromorphic Quirk rather then a Transformation type. Cause Aizawa's quirk doesn't work in Heteromorphic's.
@BOOKW0RM right forgot about that
@BOOKW0RM the part of the quirk that improves his body is heteromorphic as it costs no energy to maintain so Aizawa definitely wouldn't be able to turn him into a normal person.
@plot_xc well ignoring the fact that aizawas quirck wouldn't work (at least not fully) the mc has a unknown organisation that based in how well they did whit the himiko and eri missions could relatively easily take out aizawa by sniper assasination wich wouldn't lead back to the mc so even if he wants aizawa death there are better options than using his quirck and being branded a criminal
Also his goal at the moment is becoming the number 2 hero so aizawa would help him in that not fight him (especially since his group can't be linked to him at least not by capturing his men and i hope he is smart enough not to leave a paper/ cyber trail to link himself so as long as he himself doesn't give Aizawa a reason they are on the same team and he has no current plans that would change that)
@prognastat I was thinking, at the tournament that happens, what do you think of making the protagonist talk them to change the arena so people can really show their potential, for example uraraka, she could win against bagukou in those days if she had something to levitate
