Refilling my mana, I once again start traveling around while hunting prey. I tried testing mana map by using it only for a second at a time and was able to focus the spell to mainly detect animals. This helped my hunt speed a bit, as I was able to notice more creatures than before instead of just passing by a bird or rabbit hidden in the leaves. This is a very helpful skill I will say, but unfortunately increasing the skill level did not lower the mana cost. It did however increase the range.

Increasing mana maps level t max, I can now scout out the area within perhaps a 500 meter radius. I also noticed that as my int and wis increased, I was able to process and handle more information from the skill, allowing me to keep track and detect animals better. I also encountered a new animal today.

Doing my ususal rounds of hunting, my occasional mana map detected a life form larger than the usual rabbit and bird. Sneaking around, I found a grey wolf. It was small, perhaps the size of a large fox, but it was a predator nonetheless. This creature would net me more exp than a rabbit right? Readying my mana arrow, I killed the wolf, piercing it in the head. Looking up close at the wolf, it was well more like a dog/fox to me. A dog with long and large canines, but possessing a lithe figure, perhaps a meter long. Storing the body in my inventory.

Nice. I wonder what wolf meat tastes like.

To answer that question, leaner than rabbit meat, and a much stronger taste than bird. It was an even gamier piece of meat, which I really did not like at all. I'll just keep the bodies in inventory for now. Maybe I could use the pelts to make a bed or blanket? I've been searching around, but I still can't find a proper shelter. A cave would be nice, but it would need proper ventilation since I will not be left alone in the dark in a creepy cave.

The terrain is still forest like, but while there were more clearings and open spaces before, the forest grows denser the further I venture into it from my initial start site. Thankfully the river has some smaller streams that travel Eastward, so I can adventure and still have access to clean water. To be honest, I am wondering if I should slow down my travelling speed. Wolves are already a hard enemy to be safe from let alone kill. While I can kill up to 4 wolves before my mana runs out, their speed and numbers could prove a problem if I'm not ambushing one like before. If I encounter wolf packs together, or creatures even stronger than the grey wolves, it could get pretty dangerous. For now, I think that I'll try staying around my current location while hunting, and once I class advance again I should be ready to start heading deeper into the forest.

Thankfully, my hunting rate increases as I level as my mp and mp regen grows nicely. Thanks to the 50% boost from from my two Mage's Mind skills I practically am getting 7.5 stat points every level instead of 5.  I've gained 4 levels since despite the ever increasing exp requirements to level up. Taking a closer look at mana arrow, I realized just how much better than mana bolt it really is. The cast speed, velocticy, range, damage, and even cast radius has all increased. I can now cast mana arrow a meter away from me, and the it takes less than a second for me to cast the spell. I can even combine it with mana map to snipe targets hundreds of meters away, although that pretty much takes around half of my mana. Thanks to my mana regen, I can pretty much fight brand as new every hour or so, but my ability to hunt a pack or group of animals all at once is inhibited by my max mp. It makes me wonder if I should invest more stat points into Int. The ideal scenario would be to have enough mana regeneration to constantly cast mana arrow nonstop, but the skills mana cost of 11mp is only temporary. Later on I will probably learn even costlier spells, in which my maximum mana will be even more important in hunting. I guess that it would be like how big ones back pack is. If I go rock collecting, and my back pack is small, no matter how fast my legs can run, it would still be a pretty bad and inefficient process. Although I invested my stats 1:4,Int:Wis, lately, I should try a 3:2 ratio instead. Atleast until I can cast a dozen or so mana arrows at once. Well with my upcoming class advancement, perhaps atleast until I can cast my next new attack skill a dozen or so times.
