“Greetings.” Carlisle says as we stand in the clearing to La Push. Four wolves growling, yet they’re throwing curious glances at me. “I wanted to introduce you to a new resident in town, she’s a part of the supernatural.” Carlisle motions towards me.

“They want to know who she is, she smells human. They want to know if we’re going to break the treaty by turning her.” I laugh at the thought, and all eyes turn towards me.

“My name is Lilith McGrath. Though I wouldn’t mind a particular vampire biting me.” I wink at Rosalie, making the wolves growl at my mistimed joke. “Their bite does nothing to me, my kind is older, far far older, and even then I am special.”

“They want to know what you are.” Edward ‘translates’.

“I would be happy to discuss that with your elders and your alpha. Though as I have not yet told the Cullens, I would like for the meeting to be on neutral grounds, for example my house. Your elders and your alpha are invited, but I would like to inform you that I’m extending that same invitation towards Esme.” I motion towards the caramel haired vampire, catching her by surprise.

“They want to know when.”

“What about this evening at seven, I’ll prepare dinner.”

“Thank you for the invitation, dear.” Esme smiles as she helps me in my kitchen.

When we arrived at my home, she was pleasantly surprised and her eyes all but demanded a tour, it seems she likes the design and architecture.

“No problem, I have a feeling that you’d be a bit better suited towards the conversation than Carlisle.” She quirks an eyebrow in question. “I get the feeling he’s a bit too curious, and would probably start asking questions that might not be fitted to the setting.” I wink at her, and she laughs.

“While I love my husband, he can be a bit too inquisitive, it comes with the job, and his habit has only gotten worse over the years.” I snicker at her statement.

Picking up the sound of cars and paws hitting the ground, I look towards the door. “I’ll finish up here dear, go greet your guests.” Esme smiles at me, and I kiss her cheek in thanks.

Opening the door, I come face to face with four people I can assume are the elders, and a wolf I assume is Sam.

“Welcome.” I smile at them, getting a hesitant nod in return. I look towards the wolf. “If you have spare clothes with you, you can change in the garage. I’d prefer not to have the mud stuck to your paws on my flooring.” I smile at him, getting a nod in return. Clicking on the opener, one of the garage doors open and the wolf pads inside.

I lead the remaining elders into the dining area between the kitchen and the living room. Some of the elders freeze at spotting Esme, despite knowing she’d be here.

“I had Esme help me prepare some of the food.” They look warily at it, making me roll my eyes. “It’s not poisoned. I’ve tasted her food before and it’s delicious, she simply helped me enhance one of my recipes.”

They take a seat as Sam walks through the entrance.

“Let’s start with introductions, shall we? I’m Lilith McGrath.”

Billy Black seems to be the spokesperson, as he stands up from his chair. “I’m Billy Black, council leader. To my right is Quil Atera III, to my left Harry and Sue Clearwater. The young man is Sam Uley, alpha of the pack.”

“Thank you for agreeing to meet in my home.” I smile at him, and I can tell he relaxes slightly.

“I assume you’re aware of each other, but this is Esme Cullen, here as a representative.”

“Now.” I say as I clap my hands together. “I would like for us to eat before we begin our discussions. Would anyone like anything particular to drink? I have everything from water to hard liquor.”

Esme tsks at me, making me look at her. “You’re not old enough to buy alcohol.” I laugh at her. “Neither are your children.” I quip back, making her laugh.

“The food was delicious, thank you.” Sam’s baritone voice is pleasant to listen to. I give him a smile in thanks.

“Now that we’ve enjoyed our food, shall we get to the matter at hand? I’ve been made aware that the Quiletes and the Cullens have some form of treaty. I’ve invited you all here to discuss if there are certain boundaries I would have to adhere to during my stay here in forks.”

“That would depend on what you are.” Billy says to me, making me stand up.

“It would be easier to show you.” I say as I feel my wings unfurling themselves and stretching to their full wing span. Since I’ve already seen this before, I’m aware that some of my hair, in a circle shape around my forehead, has turned white, reminiscent of a halo. While I have a true angel form, thanks to one of my wishes, this is what I’ll let them know about.

Gasps around the room bring me out of my reverie, and I look at the shocked faces of all my guests. “Is that, are you–?” Sam begins. “An Angel?” I finish his sentence, and he nods. “Yes.” I give him a smile. The elders share looks between them, while Esme looks at me with a curious gaze. I wink at her, no doubt she’s remembering my clue from a few days ago.

“Well. I don’t think we need an official vote, if you’re an Angel you are welcome on our lands anytime, and I would like to invite you to our next bonfire where we share our tribe's stories.” Billy smiles at me, and I want to snicker, should I have told them the full truth about my species? Possibly. Will I? No, not yet.

“Thank you. I’ll make sure to come.”

We make a bit more smalltalk, before the Quiletes leave. As soon as they’re out of hearing range, Esme whirls on me with an accusing finger. “An Angel? Dear I know you’re lying.” I smirk at her.

“Technically I’m not. I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now, am I right?”

“The first son. You’re not just any angel are you, you’re the first angel, and the first to be cast out of heaven.”

I laugh, bringing her in for a hug. “Indeed, but remember I’m not that old. I’ll tell you my entire story eventually, but I think this revelation is a big enough shock for now?”

Her arms squeeze me in a comforting hug, before she lets go. “Can I see?” I smile at her, taking a step back as my white wings turn black. Extending my hand Lightbringer ignites in my hand, blinking into existence as the silver blade is lit up with the dancing flames around the edges.

Esme gasps, her eyes drawn to the hellfire, I let go of the blade as it disappears, not wanting to keep that here for long.

“Does this mean heaven is real?” She asks, and I figured the question would come.

Guiding her over to the living room, we take a seat on the sofa.

“No, not in the way you expect.” It seems Katie has given me some background information. “There is a form of heaven and hell, but that has nothing to do with humans. There is no judgement, there is no eternal paradise or damnation. It simply used to be a haven for either species.”

“Used to?” She asks, and I smile sadly at her, feeling the emotions that go along with the loss of my species, and I’m beginning to finally ask myself the question as to why Katie picked me, and if my human background is all that there is.

“As far as I’m aware, I’m the last of my species on both sides.” Tears that will never fall well up in Esme’s eyes, and she places a comforting hand on my thigh.

“While I don’t want to hide this from your family, will you keep it a secret until Isabella has guessed correctly or given up? I feel the impact would be more, dramatic.” I smirk at her, changing the conversation and she laughs at my question.

“That’s fine dear. Now, what are your intentions for my daughter?”

I sputter as my cheeks grow red. Where the fuck did that come from.

“I pay attention to my children, and I’m sorry if this is out of place, but I already consider you one of mine.” She says as I shake my head, having gathered myself.

“I don’t mind. While I have no particular familiar feelings about the rest of your family, I do see you as a mother figure of sorts. As for your question, I don’t know yet. I don’t know Rosalie too well, but I do like what I know, and I could see myself wishing for something more, but that’s up to her.”

Esme squeals as she brings me in for a hug, and I’m starting to wonder if she’s picked up Alice’s habits, or the other way around.

“You’ll be good for my daughter. Just be patient, she has a rough exterior, but she’s warm and kind on the inside.”
