From birth, Ane could sense the physical sensations of those around her. It started as only her mother, while in the womb, but even before she was born it spread to a few meters distant. By the time she achieved threshold, it spread to a few hundred meters.

Ability: Phantom

Passive

Extends your senses beyond the limits of your body to everyone around you within range. You feel, see, taste, touch, smell, and experience kinesthesia of others. Sensation is half has intense as direct experience, and further divided by the numbers of others within range. Blocked by Isolate and Subsume. Ranks can reduce or increase intensity as willed as well as focus on and locate the source of the sensation.

Within this story are a number of concepts and terms that need to be defined. They may be obvious to me, the author, but since the story is all in my head I will explain them anyway. Will add more over time I suppose, as I run into complicated concepts.

• Psion: A person who's primary psychic branch involves raw thought and emotion. 
• Cognitive: A person who's primary psychic branch involves comprehension. More sensitive to the flow of energy around them, capable of intuiting the raw makeup of reality through force of will. 
• Dimensional: Not mind over matter, but effectively mind over reality. These persons can bend space and time into knots. Reversing time is not possible, but they can grab the axis of time's arrow and stretch it into a pretzel if they so choose, or step through into another position in space. 
• Telekinetic: Similar to Cognitive, but using comprehension, observation, and finesse to manipulate matter and energy. These persons are able to analyze and manipulate through mental focus alone. Repairing organisms, throwing boulders, or even triggering fission or fusion for those with the finest control. 
• Stamina: Raw energy within the mind  of a Psychic. A consumable fuel for all powers that regenerates over time. 
• Power: A formulaic method of using mental stamina. Power formula are not transcribed or learned so much as intuited. Very rarely do users come up with new powers, but it does happen from time to time.
• Rank: Each power ranks up over time, becoming more familiar, easier to use, and some times  stronger. An un formulized power is rank 0, while mastery is considered once you've gotten over 50 ranks. 
• Branch: A specific grouping of powers. Primary branches have distinct stamina pools separate from others. Subbranches use the primary branch's stamina.
• Star Rating: An exponential measurement of a branch's capacity and force. Exponential is not exact, there are degrees of difference between each person of the same star rating, however a rule of thumb when comparing them, Zero stars is 1, one star is 10, two stars is 100, and so forth. Not all power users will have access to all branches, those who do not, do not even have zero stars. Fifth star is considered to be the most a human can achieve.
• Passive Power: Any power that does not need to be concentrated on. Some can be turned on and off at will, some the user is stuck with always active for good or ill. Some passives will draw stamina while active, others may only draw stamina while interacting. A few draw no stamina at all. Most passives rank up about once for every two weeks of continuous use. 
• Channeled Power: Any power that has to be focused on and maintained to the exclusion of other actions.
• Charged Power: Similar to channeled powers, but the effect activates only once released, and will grow stronger the longer the power is charged. 
• Active Power: Instant or near instant activation of a power.
