The best way I can think of to describe this story is that it is like “I Saw The TV Glow” but for the message that ‘it’s never too late to start therapy!’ What starts as a light romp on what seems a simple trope, quickly evolves into a much deeper exploration of trauma. This is a viscerally real story about how sometimes we are our own antagonist. Witty, humorous, and exceedingly queer; whatever direction you think this story is going, I will bet you will be surprised.

I'll probably update this review as I go? Maybe?
Although I don't generally like amnesia as a plot device, I think here it ends up working shockingly well. The added dimension of "waking up trans" is super interesting because it forces our main character to kind of recontexualize her life. There's also some fun ambiguities (primarily via hints dropped in the 'future' scenes) that make reading the flashbacks more interesting as you try to piece together the timeline and what exactly happened.
My only real complaint, which is minor, is that the story doesn't really feel balanced between how much we see of Candace as an adult versus Canadace at other points in her life. I would have liked that to be a bit more balanced because it feels like we're always sorting through flashbacks while the 'main' story is on hold.
