Hiyori is trapped in a life of colorless monotony. Haunted by sleepless nights, strange visions, and an unshakable sense of dread, she stumbles upon an advertisement for Detective Everlong—an investigator claiming to solve problems others can't even understand.
Intrigued yet skeptical, she is drawn to his mysterious office, where she learns the shocking truth: she has been cursed by a demonic entity feeding off her despair, pushing her closer to death. With no other options, she embarks on a journey with Everlong to identify and break the curse. However, doing so will make her mind perceive things that ordinary humans can't—a world of twilight and its shadows that live with us unnoticed.
--- Author's notes:
- This work of mine has been sitting in my drawer for far too long. I already tried publishing it, but it failed miserably. Now, no matter what, I decided to see it through. If you read the previous versions when they were still available, you will find it familiar yet different, as I decided to change it!
- There is no concrete release schedule; I will work on it when my mood allows me to, probably publishing one or two chapters of different lengths a week.
- Although it is tagged as horror, it has humorous elements and action, including fighting against demons.
- The setting is a modern-day alternate universe.
- All the warning labels and tags are there for a reason; please check them before complaining!
This is a rework of the story I read before. I found it quite interesting. It starts out rather dark but lightens as it goes, (at least for our heroine). So don't be put off by the dark start. It gets more interesting as it goes as well. I look forward to more.
Corty is a fine writer, and I can't think of a single one of their stories that has disappointed me while I have enjoyed them all. I recommend not only this story but any of the others they have written.
