106

That's me. But there's not just one 106. Some of them are already dead.

Hecate is a virtual pet designed by IBNet Software. It has the appearance of an anime girl and can be completely personalized. If you have enough knowledge you can access the code to make it compatible with other software. The novel begins shortly after sending my Hecate to find a certain link in the gridnet.

Ice

Ice is a member of Aurora. He is in charge of most of the hardware. He was the one who was most worried when ... well, I died. I do not blame him for anything, if he had been there probably the same thing would have happened. Do not worry, this is not a spoiler.

Items
VCC(Visual Conecction Cable)

A visualization device was necessary to navigate through the grid. At first we used the monitors, but then we made a device that could be connected to any other within the Grid Field. Descending a layer distanced you more from reality, and the dissonance between the true and the false was broken into pieces. The necessary cable for this connection was the VCC.

device?(he didn't name it)

Ice made it. It connects to the Grid Field. Uses components from different operating systems to create a different experience depending on the connection. Testing the different combinations one by one with different languages was necessary to access the grid code, although we never knew exactly what layer it was in.

Floppy Disks

We usually save the parts of the code we find inside the Grid Fields within Floppy Disks. Other similar devices seem to break, especially if they exceed a certain capacity of storage. Storage must be greater than 400 kb but less than 2 mb.

Location
gridnet

The grid is a space that exists between the internet connection and the electromagnetic field of the third dimensional load. If you connect to the intermittent network you can navigate through the grid using any display device accompanied by the appropriate software. If you have certain tools you can modify the grid, even so, now I realize that its manipulation is dangerous because the discharge of entropy alters the perception of reality to such an extent that a dimensional union can occur.

GridForums

The grid net forums are a location within the grid itself. It exists in a virtual reality space where an incalculable number of users can connect, when the dimensional union occurred and the groups began to explore the Grid Fields many messages began to flow and the forum suddenly came to life. From time to time I will add some of these messages to the novel so you understand what it was like to live that moment.

Reality

With the discovery of the grid we realized that reality worked in a similar way to a network. There were several storage spaces and stored variables changing with the passage of time under a processor determining the passage of the same. Many tried to find a way to alter reality by means of the grid but nothing could be done until the entropy overload finally occurred. (Read Entropy and Dimensional Union)

The closest thing to an alteration was to determine which spaces in the grid corresponded to layers of reality.

Miscellaneous
grid.Field

After the dimensional union there is not much more to add. Areas of the grid were formed in reality and we named them Grid Fields. Exploring the grid in reality was a surreal process, there was no one there and everything seemed like a dream. It could not be more real.

Locale(user.language)

Some applications and executables of the grid could only be used in certain languages. It was quite easy to modify the language with which the application would open if we had a locale emulator, but it was not so simple once the grid was joined to reality. It was necessary people who understood different languages, for my luck Aurora is a group whose members are from all over the world. Eventually Ice created a locale emulator device for the Grid Fields.

Aurora

Navigators of the grid. Explorers of the gridnet.

While everyone ignores what happens, we mobilize ourselves as well as the other groups. At night, when the moon rises and some are lost forever. We advance through the haze, and we break the maze.

Aurora Symbol

Restart the union process is our goal, not cancel it. The grid became addictive like a narcotic.

Entropy

At that time we did not realize. We already knew that everything we did was going to be part of the entropy. All the energy had to be maintained, but what we did not know was the amount of entropy that occurred with just browsing the grid net. It was the result of the obvious intermittent connection. The layers of reality separated and although nobody noticed (beyond the mysterious fall of the surface network), everyone who used the grid jumped out of their seats.

"What the hell is going on?"

((Dimensional Union))

The dimensional union is an event that occurred when the predetermined and universal standard for entropy storage was reached. The lowest layer and the one closest to reality joined the layer of reality itself. Two different codes promoting the same type of energy. The grid was chosen because it is one of the largest sources of entropy. Getting rid of the grid could only mean the union of it. Even so the completion of the process only meant the end of reality, and if the world became part of the grid we were all going to live in a surreal eternal dream. Groups mobilized to stop the dimensional union, while others (like Aurora) accepted that in the long term the generated entropy was going to cause the end of the universe and it was better to restart the process to decrease the amount of transformed energy and accept the problems of a slightly altered reality.
