Having chased down her prey, pinning it down and finishing it off quickly so she could eat, a fox-type monster was covered in a soft glow. This was a normal occurrence, as when a monster defeats another whether fatally or not, the winner can take a portion of their foe’s soul energy. Humans, elves, dwarves, and all other “civilized races” can do the same, but have a very poor efficiency with absorbing this power due to not having a soul stone in their body.
Monsters are creatures with these stones in their body, almost always on, or inside their heart and allows them to grow using innate magic to convert this power to fuel their growth, as such it might be more accurate to call them “Magic Beasts” but the term “Monster” became the norm when this growth let them become disastrous threats, and evolve into beasts with magic all their own. Even though this may be normal knowledge to the people of this world, this fox only knows instinct, the need to hunt, to feed… until by a twist of fate, this selfsame fox came into possession of that which “people” possess; a will of her own. This is her tale; of growth, learning, and unlikely friendships.

So this is one of three stories I'm making, this one and another are actually happening at the same time and will even overlap and have characters meet. The third is still in the concept stage so nothing solid there. The tags for now are going to happen, but I may add more as I go. For the most part expect a mostly lighthearted story from this cute curious fox here, with bits of action to move things along.
Last note: The first 2 or 3 chapters may feel short or maybe even fast paced, I apologize but it is the correct pacing as our vixen is rather excitable and moves through her first "waking" moments quickly!
