Interesting characters, great world building, fascinating magic system.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and read each chapter as they released for a pretty long time, but once the story started leaning heavily into 'Beautiful Female Lead', eventually it felt like I couldn't get through a single chapter without unnecessary attention being brought to how s*xually attractive the main character is. Personally, I was reading for the magic sytem and as much as I like it, it didn't feel worth it when by [Book 7] I felt like I was skimming over at least half of what I read to get to the next action scene or training sequence, or to at least get past the 100th description of how much some random character wants to have s*x with the main character.

If that stuff doesn't bother you though, then this is a pretty good read. Give it a shot.

(Oh, and I have no idea how this doesn't have the Adult or Ecchi tags, with the amount that type of content there is.)

    Status: book 10-18.2: crucible

To start off, I absolutely love Chronicles of the Exalted Sun Child. The story, writing, world-building, characters and the power system all are phenomenal. It reminds me of the great epics that got me hooked on fantasy in the first place.

The world feels alive, you can see the ripples every character interaction and event that happens has on the story. Everything comes at a natural pace and nothing is just thrown at you. The power system is fully thought out, there are no inconsistencies with power levels. You can see the characters grow in front of you and it feels so natural.

However, I will say this story is not for everyone. The main reason I would say that could be a turn off, would be the pace. Bluntly speaking, the story can be pretty slow at times. Although when it does slow, the pacing doesn't feel unnatural. And while those slow parts can be very enjoyable, those looking for more intense stuff may not think the same.

Nonetheless there is one thing that makes sure I read every chapter no matter how slow or how little happens. The world Never stops growing. Constant new information is fed to you. I have lost count at the amount of times I have had an 'Ah!' Moment when I make a connection to previous information and every time I do, I get a glimpse at how beautifully crafted this story has been put together.

I have reread this a few times and every time I manage to find something I hadn't realized before. It's already 1.5 million words in and I still feel like we've only seen the tip of the iceberg and I am sitting on the edge of my seat to read what comes next.

    Status: book 12-23.1: conflict

This is probably the best story I have read on this site, I've put off writing a review for too long.

It's a long story but never gets stuck like some other long stories sometime do, the progression is slow but steady and enjoyable, and the writing is really good. The characters do grow up and their personalities seem to slowly evolve in a way that makes sense.

The author isn't shy to make impactful events happen and be actually impactful, yet it never feels "forced", and it is never repetitive. The river isn't clogged and flows where it needs to without noticeable attempts to control it.

I don't understand why this story isn't a lot more popular, I would definitely buy it if I found it in a bookstore.

I recommend to give it a try at least for a few chapters, and if you reach the point that all non 5 star review talk about and are put off by it, just bear with it for a while and you'll not regret it.

Status: book 2-13.1: the other trials

Okay so this is a very long story and I generally like that I do have some faults with the story.

At where I am at the MC Yuriko is trying to prove herself, and for all intens and purposes it is standard affair.

However the amount of straight up lusting after this 13 y.o. Girl is getting ridiculous, we get that she is pretty (we get reminded of this every single time a character interacts with her either overtly or through their inner thoughts if they are the POV). She is still just 13, and has been so for 1.5 books at this point and I am afraid that she will just be turning 14 by the newest chapter if we continue spending multiple chapters on each frigging day.

The thing about yuri is that she does not recognize her beauty and she supposedly so dense as to not notice that everyone she talks to gets love eyed and red faced, and begin stammering. Heck in a recent chapter the text describes how two boys spend 2 minutes, I repeat 2 minutes starring at her and when they finally move on they comment on her ass behind her back. And then even more ridiculous a girl literally says she is the prettiest girl in the room and then Yuri like the absolute dense star that she is comments on "what did she mean with the prettiest girl". So we have gotten to a spot where characters are telling her beauty to her face and still she is like "whatever could that mean".

    Spoiler

That is not to say that not even her own elder brother wanted to explain to her why going out in the big city at night is a bad idea for a pretty girl, because then the Yuri would have to confront her own beauty and actually evolve as a character. Instead we are going to have to cliche story trope of a girl going out at night and getting accosted by some ruffians (murderers and rapists) and she either gets heroically saved or saves herself because she is that awesome

    [collapse]
<- this is a prediction and I don't want to be right.

This story is for those of us who like long stories but can also handle the MC being as dense as the densest object in the solar system, the freaking sun.
