I've been really liking the world so far. The story is moving a bit slower than I was expecting from a smut novel, but it seems like the novel is delving into building the world up, and giving the main cast time to develop.

This story isn't quite sure if it's trying to be fast-paced smut or slow-paced political drama.
Either way, the story heavily suffers from Lys (the main character) clearly being very heavily telegraphed as the center of the universe and most important person ever. There are repeated instances where he does something, and one or more people (sometimes even an entire crowd) stumble over themselves to pat him on the back for it and exclaim how impressed they are.
This might be forgivable if he was actually a smart of admirable person, but he frequently makes nonsensical or stupid decisions, and whenever he confronts an antagonist, he does so in a manner that just feels petty and spiteful. Even when interacting with his love interests, there's a skeevy undertone that gives me the ick.
TL;DR: This fic has very strong 'and then they all clapped' energy.

Really enjoying the story so far. Premise sounds more p*rn with plot than it actually is. Story actually changes to a more slice of life affair after a few chapters. Spicy scenes are well written. Only real complaint is chapters do feel really short so it hurts pacing.

Good so far. Quickly falling into the category of "attempted to write porn, but got too caught up in the plot/world building"
Main drawback is short chapters make the pacing slow. A recent event was retold from multiple perspectives, and ended up feeling like the Monty Python knight running at the castle scene.
But reads well when you're not waiting on chapters, and worth picking up.

So I'm at the current 91 chapters of the story read so far. I am enjoying the overall writing style and characters. It has a really nice blend of development, plot, and enough spice to enjoy without being in such an amount as to be pointless. There have already been a number of possible future hooks dropped for the story and I am realyl looking forward to seeing where they all go. Overall So far I would recommend the novel as it is a solid read with decent characters so far.
