This novel was a fun surprise! One I enjoyed from beginning to end. It started with two people who decided to give up their dream of attaining what their heart desires, a man their heart desires, for the sake of their worried parents and how their coincidental meeting at Madam Yan's matchmaking pavilion blossomed into a wonderful story and journey to learn about each other's feelings as well as the meaning of the other's feelings for them.
Yu Huang Rong is a general who came back from constantly fighting at the border in order to marry for his worried parents and Zhang Shi Lan is a scholar who decides to give up on his love to marry for his worried parents' sake. They meet and things go surprisingly well and they both eventually end up together. A happy ending if I ever saw one.
This is a story full of longing for an unrequited love, joy and happiness, nervousness and many of the other things that we've all possibly felt before. It's a good read that I'd recommend to anyone.
