A lonely teenager without a friend on Earth, makes one when she finds a portal to another world. She must help support him in his mission to reach Earth, as failure would mean the end of his species, even as he must avoid success causing the end of hers.

Every night after school, Heather Aislinn walks to the quiet little-used railway station on the edge of her town, where for a few stolen hours she can be in no ones way. One night, for a few moments, she sees a strange light under the bridge, and makes it her goal to find out what caused the strange phenomenon. Lightyears away, the cause of that light - a young enterprising scientist named Halos - revels in his achievement opening up a window to a new world for his people.
