This is a hidden gem if I ever saw one. The style, characters, worldbuilding... everything in this work of art overflows with both talent, care, and passion.
It contains a fleshed out magic system, and descriptions of how it is intertwined with the workings of the world. The characters are also nicely written, and not the same; their emotions influence their actions - best example is heroine, where her fear is shown in her body language and thougths while not breaking the flow of reading (suspension of disbelief). Beside the magic system, the story also contains other aspects of ingenuity and careful design... but I won't go into details.

The only issue I have is backstory of one of the characters. Other side characters don't have their backstories explored in such detail, and I think only this one have an entire chapter written about them. Despite this, the backstory is excedingly shallow, and feels forced - it has no influence on the actions of the character before, or after this chapter, and I can only surmise it has been written under external influence or to include a tag. It feels like a sudden wall in the flow of the story.
