The main character of this story. A young boy with teal blue hair and eyes, he has a naturally quiet bearing and is rather inexpressive. He's a solitary figure and has little desire for companionship. At least until a certain girl appears in his life.

He is naturally gifted both mentally and physically, possessing unprecedented power that can often produce more issues than benefits.

A mysterious girl that resides within Byleth's mind. He has been dreaming of her his entire life, but she is still shrouded and mysterious. She has the appearance of a young girl with long emerald hair and eyes, as well as pointed ears. She tends to wear revealing yet elegant clothing, with copious jewelry. She is mature and supremely intelligent, yet also very tender and caring.

Byleth's father, and former Captain of the Knights of Seiros. He tends to be serious at times, though loosens up around those he cares about. He's not always the best father, but certainly tries his best.

 In battle he's ruthless to his enemies and is akin to an unstoppable force. He has a reputation as the strongest knight alive, earning the title 'Blade Breaker'. 

He is a tall man at a bit over six feet and possesses a large, yet not overly bulky, frame.

Jeralt's wife and Byleth's mother. She is a beautiful young woman of twenty with flowing green hair and eyes. She has a naturally quiet demeanor but blooms like a flower when with those she loves.

Raised in the monastery from a young age, she has a deep commitment to the faith and the Goddess above.

The lieutenant of the New Dawn Mercenaries formed by Jeralt. He is a bright young man with reddish orange hair, hazel eyes, and a constant easy smile on his freckled face.

In combat, he wields a bow with great skill and accuracy, though is adept with a sword as well.

The Archbishop of the Church of Seiros, placing her as the sole most influential and powerful woman in all of Fódlan. She is described by those who know her as an ethereal beauty in both body and soul. She possesses long emerald hair and eyes and a mature, well-endowed, body.

Rhea has a tendency to take in all who are lost and in need, regardless of whether they follow her faith or not.

An intelligent and strict young man, he's Rhea's aide and the second in command of the Church of Seiros. 

Known as the Father of Crestology, Hanneman is a renowned scholar from the Adrestian Empire. He's signed a contract to teach at Garreg Mach.

A young woman from the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. She lives hand to mouth with her young son.

The current king of Brigid and Petra's grandfather.

A continent made up of three nations and a central church: The Adrestian Empire, The Holy Kingdom of Faerghus, and The Leicester Alliance. Those of Fódlan largely keep to themselves, not mingling much with nations outside their borders unless absolutely necessary. Similarly, the happenings of Fódlan are largely a mystery to those in the wider world.

The monastery is also home of the Officer's Academy, where young nobles are sent to transform into capable leaders.

The largest nation in Fódlan, it encompasses the southern portion of the continent. Founded in Imperial year 1, it boasts a history of over 1000 years.

The Empire follows a hereditary monarchy, and strict lineage-based positions in the upper echelons.

The nation occupying the northern portion of Fódlan, founded in Imperial Year 747 after splitting from the Empire. Much of the terrain in Faerghus is frigid and nigh inhospitable, making it tough for those who live there. Similarly though, the citizens are equally tough to deal with these conditions.

The Kingdom follows a hereditary monarchy and is well known for its system of chivalrous knights.

Unlike the other two nations, the Alliance possesses a confederacy made up of several ruling families and one family at its head.

An archipelago off the western shore of Fódlan, it boasts a tropical climate. The language is different from that of Fódlan, and the people are similarly darker in appearance.

This nation follows a monarchy which is hereditary by default but is more than open to challengers for the throne.
