It is the 22nd Century, and the world has changed for the worse. Megacorps control most aspects of daily life, the global ecosystem is hanging by a thread, and overpopulation threatens to deprive what little resources are left for good. Many people eek a living off welfare, their lives miserable, and their prospects few.

Kara is one such girl.

Kicked from her home for being trans at fifteen, she now lives in a tiny one-room apartment in a poverty-stricken neighbourhood in the middle of the sprawling city of Neo-Sydney, just one of its fifty million inhabitants. Her caretaker is barely present in her life, and she has only a small group of friends to keep her sane. Scared to come out the closet, her life seems bleak and miserable, and she simply drifts through the world, in a nihilistic state of apathy.

That is until she meets Alice, who may prove key to breaking through her shell...
