The species hierarchy is based primarily (but not always) on level of power and intelligence. In a Species Hierarchy any member of that hierarchy can interbreed and produce fertile offspring. There are exceptions to this rule in which members of the Hierarchy can not interbreed. The Hierarchy is as follows: Lesser, Normal, Greater and True. In Some societies such as human, elven and orc “True” may be replaced with “Higher”, or “Divine” but are separate from Gods.
An example of this would be the Druid Hierarchy:
The lowest members of a Species Hierarchy are usually unintelligent or of very low intelligence and some may consider monsters although there are exceptions. Some species turn into their lesser variants temporarily or permanently for various reasons. Species such as the werewolf consider their wolf transformation a lesser variant despite being physically stronger because they lose intelligence in the form.
There are instances in which a species will classify an ethnicity of their race a Lesser because of ideology or appearance biases. This happened in the case of the elves and the goblins. While both are technically elves, goblins are considered Lesser despite being just as magically, intellectually and cognitively capable.
Elf Hierarchy
A greater is usually the offspring of a True and any of the lower members of the Hierarchy. These individual share the closest connection to the True and may have a deeper spiritual connection. Alternatively they may be an avatar of a True that manifests because the True cannot fully cross over into the lower planes.
Demon Hierarchy
The True are beings from Higher Planes. They are worshiped and feared all around the world. Many cultures call them many different things, some Divine, Higher or True. They are directly responsible for creating many of the races across the world today. Little is known about the True or the Higher Planes but it is known that there are just as many malicious entities out in the wider cosmos as there are benevolent ones.
The Gods exist within the space between realities, though little to nothing is known about them or their roles in the greater cosmos. Despite their silence, the Gods are ever-observing entities, possessing power beyond existence. Most people either do not believe in these entities or simply do not worship them, favoring instead the True, who are revered as Creators and play a far more significant role in the lives of mortals.
Really interesting so far great writing and story, relatively still at the beginning but a lot has already happened at chapter 18 as I'm writing this.
