It was a hot night in August when the unthinkable happened. A night that would go down in history as the best thing that had ever happened to some, and the absolute worst event possible for everyone else. Portals appeared on Earth and people all over the world were transported into video game worlds. Some players obtained great power inside the portals they entered. Many others were not as lucky.

Due to strict parents, Redmaw was never allowed to play video games. Raised in an abusive and neglectful household, he was rarely allowed off his parent's property in rural Connecticut. With most of his knowledge of the outside world learned from outdated books, he struggled to survive the chaos caused by the portals. Unfortunately for him, others had already set their sights on the poor Iksar. Surrounded on all sides by new characters that competed for his attention, Redmaw needed to select his companions carefully. The decisions made by him, and those that surrounded him, could have disastrous ramifications for the entire planet.

This story will follow Redmaw as he travels around Earth and enters portals to obtain items and power. The video games played are REAL games that exist in our world right now. Redmaw starts off in an Everquest portal, but any and all games are possible in the future.

This story will be dark. Humans that are spontaneously granted super-powers are already at high-risk of abuse. Add in the collapse of the government, the lack of clean water, the disappearance of easily accessible food, and the world will quickly delve into barbarism. Like a zombie apocalypse, but with fewer zombies. Players in this world will either be strong, obey the strong, or die. Death is not necessarily an escape either, since Clerics with Revive magic and Necromancers with Raise Dead spells exist now. Many characters will not find an escape from this hell. For some, death will be a luxury that they will never be able to afford.

This story is meant to be interactive. Readers can suggest video games for Redmaw to visit and gain benefits from.
Readers are encouraged to dig deeper into the story to unravel the mystery occurring behind the scenes, but it is NOT required. Not all portals Redmaw enters will be crucial to the story, but some of them are incredibly important for his future.
