I was once again asleep, it’s weird sleeping as a ‘Dark Soul’. I still wasn’t sure what type of race I actually was, if I had to say then I would say I’m some sort of ghost and spirit.

Sleeping was a weird feeling, it felt as if you were half conscious and half asleep. I have no actual need to sleep, I juts do it because I enjoy it and to recover mana.

My ‘Spirit Form’ continued in its same shape as before, badly injured to the brink of death or something close to destruction.

One may ask what the difference between a ‘Spirit’ and a ‘Soul’ is, I can’t give you a accurate answer. I can only speak my speculations as an answer, if that were enough…

For something to be considered a living being, it would first need a vessel, an example would be a human body without a soul residing within. If that were to be a normal occurrence, it would be a great problem to the world.

Children born without life’s of their own, no emotions, no will, no soul. But, thankfully that isn’t the case. Now resuming my explanation.

If the requirements are met, there would be a ‘Vessel’ with a ‘Soul’ residing within, and right at that moment a ‘Spirit Form’ is made.

Not every Soul has a shape and form from the beginning especially pure souls that have no memories to take shape from nor recollections to use as reference.

If a human acquired the ‘Spirit Form’ skill it would be useless to them, it would just allow you to have a half-materialized spirit nothing more. Though for example if a human had lost one of its limbs like a leg or an arm, they could use ‘Spirit Form’ to make up for their lost limbs.

However, if the spirit form gets damaged there won’t be a easy way to heal it. An example would be when I slit the throats from those guards, I didn’t cut off their heads off, but I damaged their spirit to the point where they lost consciousness. And their spirit forms can heal overtime with healing magic.

But my case is different, I’m a pure spirit. I was sent over here with no skills, I didn’t even have a single skill from when I was on earth, and I did not even get a cheat! If my ‘Spirit Form’ was damaged the only way for it to heal would be to either get an expert in ‘Life Attribute Magic’ or to gain a skill that can regenerate lost parts of my body.

‘Maybe I’ll make Alice get better at ‘Life Attribute Magic’.’, my idle thoughts came to a close, sleeping as a spirit is really weird.

You feel like you can wake up at any moment, however it’s up to you. It’s as if my consciousness could decide when to wake up and not.

“Maybe I should drink that potion…”, a sudden thought came across, but I denied it and simply continued self monologuing in my sleep. I had no idea what time it is, at best I would simply guess by the noise around me.

‘Drinking the potion would be selfish of me, if I’m going to get the twins out unharmed I need to make sure to keep this potion in case they’ll need it more than me.’

These were my last thoughts, I could hear the birds chirping outside and the sunlight entering the room through the window could be felt upon my materialized soul.

‘I guess it’s time to wake up.’

“Good morning, everyone…. Eh?”, I found myself dumbfounded by the appearance of only two people at the table.

On the table were only Alice and Willow, Alice was biting onto her food like a hungry squirrel and Willow was face flat on the table.

“Where’s Athena and Azure?”, I didn’t overwork Azure yesterday, did I? I was glad for her help truly.

Willow didn’t react and instead I heard a snore come from him instead, Alice with her usual poker face pointed her knife towards me like a finger.

“Athena left a couple of minutes ago, and Azure went together with her.”

I was sort of surprised by her sentence. “Where did she go? And why?”, I asked her, in all honesty for some reason I felt like I shouldn’t have asked that.

“… I cannot tell you that you’ll have to find that out yourself.”, Alice said with a pained expression. “Heh?”

Why… I guess Azure is together with Athena I’m sure they’ll be alright, for now I have to do something very important.

“Oh yeah, what happened to Willow?”, I flipped over his big hand, I could see his red skin showing marks of how long he had been in that position without moving.

“He’s been asleep after since yesterday night, what did you guys do?”, Alice explained while raising a question. “We went to a casino, and after we left with a bunch of money I went back to sleep… and Willow stayed down here drinking.”

Alice sighed in disappointment and simply continued munching on her food. “You sure are a glutton.”, I commented.

“I’ve been eating the same food for four days straight, I need some variety!”, she spoke her argument and I nodded in agreement. “Anyway, I’m going to go explore town, wanna come?”

Alice took a glance at me, I was still wearing the same expressionless face and bored looking eyes. “Yeah, I’ll join you, but don’t get me wrong, I’m not doing this for you.”

‘No, I was just worried you would get bored staying here all day…’

We went around the town sightseeing, Alice was next to me in her normal everyday clothes. Her silky golden hair swayed like the wind.

“Is it me, or are we walking in a certain pattern?”, Alice notices that we weren’t exactly walking in a normal pattern, and she was right.

“You’re right, I am actually searching for something.”, I said, I caught a glimpse towards the people walking on the street, most of their gazes were targeted towards Alice.

“And you need ‘me’ to find it or why did you invite me at all?”, Alice doubted that I had invited her without a reason. “No, you coming with me was something completely optional. Though…. I guess having one more extra hand wouldn’t be bad.”

“If that’s the case, then why did you invite me? Don’t tell me you wanted me to come with you that badly?”, Alice seemed extremely suspicious. “First off, I invited you because I thought maybe you would get bored staying at the same place for a whole day, not because I was feeling lonely. And second off, why did you even accept it in the first place?”

Alice blushed at my rapid response. ‘Was he worried about me…’, the thought made her blush even further, she shook her head denial.

“I accepted it because I felt like it!”, she still answered despite her beet red cheeks. “Fine, then it is settled.”, and thus the conversation ended leaving naught but the voices of the people in town.

“What is it you’re exactly looking for?”, Alice broke the ice, as expected of a princess. To be able to converse with anyone even me. “I heard there’s a tournament happening, and the prize is exactly what I need.”

Alice held her hand on her chin in thought. “You need it because you don’t have enough money to pay back the twins you told me about?”, Alice was spot on though of course she would’ve found out since that was the reason behind us coming here.

“Yes, the money we got from the casino is barely one quarter of the whole thing.”, I explained.

There was the option to go to the casino again and gamble to the point where they go bankrupt, but using the same technique twice or even more times, they’ll eventually find out.

“I know this’ll sound inappropriate to ask… but why are you going so far?”, Alice asked.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not doing this because I’m a nice person. It’s just…”, I was struggling to find the right words to be spoken. “I was never able to repay those who took care of, so this is my way for repentance.”

“You’re hopeless.”, she said and nothing more, if you looked closely you could see her cheeks reddening. “What do you mean?”

“I don’t know why don’t you try to find out?”, she left me speechless. ‘Hey don’t try to make me use my brain! You know very well I won’t find it out.’

“Ice cream! Who wants some Ice cream?”, a food cart vendor was attracting customers, selling frozen treats known as ‘Ice Cream’.

Alices gaze moved towards the food cart, I could feel mana coming from the food cart. It was probably a magic item that keeps things frozen.

“Do you want one?”, I could see drool forming itself on the counter of her mouth, her eyes had ‘greed’ written all over them. “N-no, I’m fine!”

“Okay, then I’ll go get one myself.”, I tempted her, I walked toward the food cart and bought an Ice cream.

Alice was probably trying not to be selfish, but she was pouting in the back I could feel it. “Make it two of them.”, I told the vendor and he noticed the young maiden on the back. “Oh-ho, yes sir.”

He gave me two cones of the same type of ice cream, I walked back to Alice and handed one to her. “But, I told you I didn’t want one.”

‘God, she’s like Athena.’, always asking for the minimum and trying not to be greedy. “You clearly wanted one, and it would be weird just me eating one, wouldn’t it?”

Alice stopped resisting and took the cone, I only chose  two tastes which were my favorites, Stracciatella and vanilla.

I liked the ice cream, the taste was slightly different from the one on earth, but they were good enough to be edible. I looked at Alice and she was mesmerized by the iced treat.

“You two love birds have a nice date!”, the man at the food cart teased us.

“”We’re not on a date!””, both of us responded at the same time.

“What the hell!”, we finally arrived at the destination I was searching for, in front of us was a long line right on the front of a coliseum.

“Do this many people want one platinum coin?”, I wondered, there were several lines with mountains of people.

I was going to register to enter the Tournament, I didn’t know any other way to earn money other than my traditional way to do quests. That’s why I was searching the place where I could register, I guessed that it would be in some place with a huge coliseum or arena.

“Are we going to stay here for hours?”, Alice shivered at the thought of having to wait on a single line that may take years to just reach the cashier.

As I was thinking about a way to make the several lines of people disappear, I recognized a head among the people.

“Gray, is that you? Again???”, I found Gray at the start of a line excited like a little child who was about to go on a rollercoaster.

“Hey, Shiro! I forgot you were here in ‘Knightfall’.”, he responded to my greeting. “Are you here to sign up for the tournament?”

“Yeah… you know since I lost all of my money…”, Grays expression turned dark, he put his hand on my shoulder. “I had to get onto my knees and beg to Laila that she would offer me some money, so now I have to enter this tournament no matter what to repay her.”

There were tears rolling down his eyes, it was a pitiful sight to see even I felt bad for him. “I-I see, what are you going to do with the remaining money after you’ve made up to her?”

“Obviously, I’m going to gamble again!”

‘No, please don’t. For the love of god.’, If I had a keyboard I’d be spamming F for this guy. “So, what are you in for?”

“I’m here to get money to buy a slave—“, I realized what I just unintentionally said, and Grays eyes suddenly turned cold. “I didn’t know you were ‘that’ desperate, even though you already have that friend of yours, how bold.”, he mentioned Alice who was listening to the conversation without contributing.

“N-no you got it wrong.”, I tried correcting him, but instead he placed his hand on my shoulder. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell the others, or else I wouldn’t be a good friend.”, he made a thumbs up despite him misunderstanding.

‘Don’t you dare make the ‘ I am your friend’  face!’, I thought as I realized there was a line forming behind me.

And thus I ended up staying in line a whole day.

This chapter came later than expected, I want to make chapters every two days so that I can feel like I'm doing something.

I'm going to be learning Japanese soon, though I think all of you already know the reason why I'm learning it.

There's this amazing anime like game coming out, and I'm really hyped! This year has juts gotten three times better, Re:Zero season 2 came out and season 3 of Danmachi will be airing soon, and my favorite novels are finally getting anime adaptations!

Nonetheless, I hope all of you enjoy this chapter!
