Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 18. Frost's Report

His feet walked quickly down the corridor to his study room.
"Your Majesty," greeted the guards who stood in front of the room and opened the door for him.

"Don't let anyone disturb me," he ordered. After that without waiting for their answer, he entered the room and locked it. His feet moved towards the centre of the room and his dark aura began to cover his body as he used his teleport ability. The darkness swallowed his whole body, once his dark aura disappeared Angel was already in King Eudon's study room at Scarlet Stone Castle, Zephyrus.

Angel swept his gaze around, looking for Frost among the tall bookshelves in that quiet room and didn't find him. He had already asked Frost to lock this room and forbid anyone to come, including King Eudon. Moreover, King Eudon was the rebel's target. And to make the rebels believe that the double was the real King Eudon, Frost ordered the double to remain in the king's heavily guarded chamber.

'He's late. Is the situation worse than I expected?'
Angel had already got Frost's Magic Messenger which said that Earl Niall made his move faster than he expected. This proved his strategy worked well, especially the rumour that said the Euphorion soldiers tortured Earl Niall's brother cruelly in prison. And according to the agreement between him and Frost, he would come to this room after lunch to check if everything was going well.

He trod closer to the window, his back against the wall at its side and his hand opened the curtain that covered it slightly to check the castle courtyard's situation. His eyes caught several Euphorion soldiers pulling some rebel corpses in the yard and several servants busy cleaning up the battle remnants. From there, Angel was pretty sure that Frost had managed to clean up Earl Niall and his troops, but maybe there was another thing so Frost took longer than he expected.

His hand released the curtain and he turned his head to King Eudon's desk. Realizing the pile of documents on it, he decided to examine it as he waited for Frost. He turned the document in his hand, making sure King Eudon didn't renege on their agreement.

A few minutes later, the unlocking sound of the door came. Immediately, Angel returned the document to the desk and hid it between the bookshelves. Even though he had given his order, who knew it was someone else. The sound of the door opening accompanied by the sound of footsteps rang out. Angel peeked between the bookshelves to make sure it was Frost.

Frost walked towards King Eudon's desk, stopped in the middle of the room and looked around. He could feel Angel's presence so he was sure Angel was already here. He had just finished ensuring King Eudon's safety and the Castle's security. Earl Niall brought more people than they expected, which was why he was late.

As soon as Angel came out of his hiding place, Frost bowed.
"Your Majesty, please forgive my lateness."

"It's fine. How's the situation?" he asked without further ado.

"As your prediction, after your departure, they sent more assassins to kill King Eudon. And this morning, Earl Niall attacked the Scarlet Stone Castle openly. I managed to kill him but his brother suicided after he heard Earl Niall died because of trying to save him. Now, the situation is already under control, I have confirmed King Eudon's safety. We just need to look for a few rebel members who managed to escape to the capital."

Angel smirked.
"Good. Everything is going according to plan."

"I also want to report something important, Your Majesty. It's from the Dark Agents."

"Say it."

"They detect new movements. But the rebel's movements are very random and spread throughout Zephyrus. Sometimes they are recruiting new members, but then they leave the new members on the way. Sometimes they are trying to build a new hideout but they leave before they are finished. I think they are trying to confuse us and cover their tracks."

"That means Ivetta and Ilex have started executing their plan," Angel said.

"Yes. We have to be careful, Your Majesty," Frost said.

Angel fell silent, deep in thought for a moment.
"Put more guards around King Eudon and ensure his safety. Also, make me a report on the rebels' latest movements and their location." Little did he know about Ilex and Ivetta's plans, even though he had read the spy's mind. So he had to rely on his Dark Agents' information for this.

"As your wish, Your Majesty," Frost said with a slight bow.

"I will entrust Zephyrus' security to you," said Angel. Then he used his teleport ability, soon his dark aura enveloped him again.
