Third Arc (Fallen Heart) – 120. Magic Formation Tattoos I
“Are you still shy of His Majesty, Your Highness?” said one of the maids who was helping Rose get dressed. Her hands deftly smoothed Rose's outer dress. One other maid tidied up the end of the dress and another combed her hair.
“I don't want to bother His Majesty. Besides, my clothes are a little complicated,” she reasoned. Her eyes were fixed on the mirror in front of her. She couldn't say the real reason since she didn't know if this was a normal thing for husband and wife or not.
"We have prepared a simple night dress for you. I'm sure he can help you to put it on," another maid asked. Not only the night dress, Rose even only brought simple dresses for this trip so the maid believed that Angel should be able to help her. Yet Rose chose to dress up in the main tent.
"He's a king. I don't want to bother him for a small thing like this," she reasoned again. It was a shabby excuse, but she had no other reason.
“But I think the king won't be bothered and is ready for it. It was his request after all,” said the maid who was combing her hair.
Rose was speechless since she couldn't deny it.
“Besides, didn't you find it romantic?” said the other maid. She took her hands away from Rose's dress and placed them both on her own chest. A hopeful smile on her lips. “The dim lights. The romantic atmosphere. The nice scents. The warm water. The skinship and it was just the two of you there. It could be turned into something else," she blabbered.
“Aw…” Her blabbering was greeted with the others' orchestra of envy.
"Not to mention not a single servant and maid has ever seen his body," added another. Even though it was rude, the maid couldn't help but say it out of curiosity.
It was the biggest mystery for the maids and the servants since Angel always went to bathe and dressed by himself. Even Angel never took off his clothes when the royal doctor went for a routine check-up once a month.
“We are in the middle of the camp. There's no way we do it here. It's inappropriate," replied Rose. She realized where this conversation was going. It made her face blush a bit since she could remember what she had just seen.
Noticing Rose's blushing face, they mustered their courage to ask her.
“Pardon our impoliteness, Your Highness. But is it true that the king's body is covered by many magic formations tattoos?" asked the maid. It was an old rumor among the maids and servants. Also, the only reasonable reason that allowed him to use his spell without casting time.
That made Rose turn to him. A frown on her forehead.
"Where did you get that?" She asked quickly. And she bet this rumor spread since Angel never showed his body to anyone.
On the other hand, Rose could understand Angel's decision. Even with his victory, what he didn't need to be said to the public was better left unsaid. He had a lot of enemies, his enemies could use this to bring down his reputation and ignite a new rebellion.
"It's an old rumor, Your Highness. We all know that all princes or kings have some servants to help him bathe and get dressed, yet His Majesty does not have any of them. Isn't that weird?" asked the maid.
“Yet he showered and changed his clothes in the same room as you. Not to mention… you are his wife. So we are very curious about it. What is His Majesty hiding behind his clothes,” added the other. Their curiosity was evident in the tone of their voices.
"There are no tattoos on his body." Rose decided to kill the rumors. "He just has a scar that reminds him of his bad past and he doesn't want anyone else to see it," she added. She needed a reason why he did it. One or two scars should be normal for a man like him and it was better than the rumors about magic formations tattoos.
"So this has something to do with what happened when he was still the prince of Asteria?" asked the maid in curiosity since they finally got the answer to their question.
"Yes. He is a king now and he doesn't want his past to bother him anymore. So he chose to cover it,” Rose explained.
As soon as those words left her mouth, a male voice came from the entrance.
"Cover about what?" said Angel who had just entered the tent.
His voice startled them.
