As the dinner came to an end everyone got out and left the dining room, Shan Quon looked on as the members of the family exchanged kisses, and his as the family members that didn’t live here left one by one. He stood in the corner and none of them seemed to pay attention to him, which was until he felt a warm hand on his head ruffling his hair.

He looked over to find one of the older children of the Shan Family smiling at him. “Goodbye little cousin, I hope to see you again.” After saying that she turned and walked away.

Shan Quon stared at her retreating back as he tried to remember her name but in the end, he came up with nothing so he gave up with a yawn and continued to watch as everyone left. Aside from the cousin, no one else bothered to say anything to him but he remained unbothered, the only reason he remained here was that he was waiting for someone to show him to his room.

“Shan Quon.”

At the sound of his name he looked over to see he was being called by old master Shan, he leaned off the wall and walked over to him. The old master signaled for him to follow and soon they stood in the same room he had met the members of the Shan family earlier today. The old master went over and sat by his desk and signaled for Shan Quon to sit across from him.

When he did the old man reached into his desk draw and pulled out a small box and pushed it over to him. Shan Quon took it and opened the box, he was greeted by the sight of a black credit card, car keys, and a ring with the family’s insignia on it. He looked at the items and held the box lazily before placing it on the table and looking at the old master who had seemed to be waiting for his reaction but sadly would get none.

He remembered when he first arrived here in his last life, though he had met the family and spent the day with them, there was no such box. Just like the play park, an existence he knew nothing of until this very day, these two things alone showed that his actions in his past life had been observed. Just like how he spent the day completely differently from the one in his last life he was sure the old master had been observing him and unlike that life he thought him worthy of owning the Shan name.

“That’s your welcome present, it’s good that we found you and we will work hard going forward to make up for the things you missed out on because of our mistake.”

Even though he felt nothing for what had happened today he knew that it was best to be polite to this old man, he wouldn’t let the things that happened in his past life stop him from getting the free meal ticket that now dangled in front of him. He knew if it wasn’t for this old man he wouldn’t have been brought back in the first place and now it was because of him that he would get to sleep the rest of his life away.

“Thank you Old Master Shan.”

For a second the old man’s eyes narrowed but when he didn’t correct him to call him grandfather, Shan Quon knew he had made the right choice.

The old man nodded “tomorrow the old butler will take you to the hospital to do a full checkup and your mother will hire you a private driver and your own servants. But for now, it’s been a long day, so I’ll have the servant show you to your room, make sure to get some rest so you aren’t in this state the next day.” Shan Quon thanked the old man again and took the box before he walked out of the room, at the door a servant was waiting.

The servant quietly took him to the second floor of the mansion, the mansion had four levels, the top floor was Old Master Shan’s and no one was allowed up there without his permission. The third floor was for Shan Uang and his wife while the second floor was where Shan Gan and Shan Gao lived, the floor was fully equipped with everything they would need, from studying to play and his new room had been arranged next to Shan Gan’s bedroom.

It was so unlike his last life, he had lived on the second floor for a short while but it was in a smaller room that was closer to the stairs, and clearly, he couldn’t have access to the other rooms on the second floor, much less go up to the floors above. He had only lived there for three months before he was sent to live by himself in one of the townhouses the family-owned, he was given servants but people often mistook him for a servant because of how he lived.

When the servant opened the door to his room, he was met with the sight of a magnificent room that didn’t lose out to the ones that the twins owned. The servant handed him the key and then walked him around the second floor so he could know where everything was before they quickly left. He curiously looked towards the stairs and walked over to the door for the small room he had previously stayed in.

When he pushed the door open it was actually set up in the style of an office, the office was clearly meant for him, he sighed and tilted his head before he walked out of the room. He went over to the bedroom and pushed the door open, he slowly explored the room and shut his eyes. The box deep in his conscience began to shake violently but he took a few deep breaths and waited for it to stop before he opened his eyes.

He walked over to the bed and fell back with his hands spread, his emotionless eyes stared at the ceiling before they fluttered shut.
