I changed my clothes after rummaging inside the wardrobe. It was a white tunic with a paired blue jacket and brown pants paired with black boots. It had the vibe of villager clothes while still being formal at the same time. I looked at my reflection in front of the tall mirror.
"These are surprisingly comfortable" I marveled at the quality
*Knok knok
"Colt, the maids said we have to go the temple now" I heard Rea's voice after she knocked twice, I opened the door
"Good Morning"
"Good Morning" she said cheerfully
Rea wore a white long sleeved blouse and a long green skirt along with heels. It was a refreshing look from the usual
'Seems like she's back to normal....for now..'
"Morning you two, let's go already, the maids have been waiting for a while" said Ben as he gestured towards the maid in the end of the hallway.Ben had the same type of clothes that I have only without the jacket
"In my opinion, its too early"
"Thats because its you Colt" Rea argued
"Hey lets go"
"Yeah"
We followed the maids as we walked towards the temple
-----
As we got outside rows of brick and wooden houses could be seen as far as the eyes can see and huge wall circling the at the end stood out
The castle was bigger and grander that I have ever seen in my world with inner walls and tall towers decorating its exterior and a huge courtyard and garden as we exited its iron gates
The scene of people wearing swords at their waist and people with luxurious clothes riding carraiges made me feel like a boy in a fantasy park
Speaking of carriages we were in one currently with knights riding horses escorting us from the side
I was looking through the window when Ben spoke up
"This place seems medieval no matter how you look at it right"
"It was obvious from the beginning with the King greeting us from the start" I replied
"They also have suprisingly high quality leather, just feel this couch" added Ben
"And clothes too"
As me and Ben were having a casual talk, Rea spoke
"Hey guys...the Gods..what do you think they're like?" asked Rea with a worried look as she alternately looked at us
"The Gods...I hope they're easy to talk to at least"
"Ive watched too much anime for this and usually they either end up as as**oles or belevolent saints"
"As**oles huh, they might be considering they dragged us here without even asking"
"Supposed we say they are, we shouldnt antagonize them if we dont want divine retribution"
"Divine retribution? why would they even do that, dont they need us?"
"I dont really know but the fact that we are able to meet them means that they can influence this world and its inhabitants"
"Yeah you might be right but still..."
"Brother please keep your cool this time, that time when you shouted at the King could have gotten us killed" Rea gravely reminded
"..Yeah Im sorry about that, I lost my cool that time.." Ben hunged his head down
"No worries, anyone would have lost their s**t in that situation, just remember to keep your calm this time" I reassured Ben
Ben nodded at my words as Rea also had a resolute look in her eyes
The carriage stopped as we finished our little talk, the carriage door opened with two knights lined up by the sides
"Please follow us, the temple is just this way" the one from the left gestured
We nodded, as we got out the carriage, a temple that could be found from greece awaited us, it had white pillars and various statues of people which I presumed to be the Gods of this world as we followed the knights
A spot for a statue was missing from the column where they were displayed. The knights stopped in front of a podium with a large window behind it. A priest was standing by the side
"The priest will guide you, please listen to his instructions" the knights said as they saluted and left the area
"It is a pleasure to meet you champions" the priest bowed
He looked like a typical old priest with clothes to match his vocation
"""Nice to meet you too"""
"Ive been informed that you're here to have a meeting with the gods so that they can grant you the purification blessing correct?"
We nodded
"Its simple dear champions, just stand in the center of the podium then you must close your eyes as you plead within your mind a wish or desire to speak to them"
'So its that easy huh' all three of us followed the instructions. I closed my eyes as I thought of what to say in my mind
'Plead..hmmmm, umm I wish to speak to you, Gods of Feloria'
I waited for something to happen but nothing happened for the next few minutes. I opened my eyes to ask the priest but when I turned all I saw was a pure white scenery
"Wh-what the?! Rea, Ben!" I looked around in a panic but all I saw was pure white. I was starting to lose my cool when suddenly, a woman's cold piercing voice resounded in my ears
"Fool, calm yourself"
I turned towards the voice and was immediately rendered speechless. A girl with pure white flowing long hair that extended down her waist and had deep blue eyes as if they could see through your soul was sitting in a chair and drinking tea from a small round table
She wore an elegant white tunic that covered her porcelein like skin and flowed down to her bare feet
'..Whoah...she's really beautiful...' I looked towards her chest 'Well..she's a bit lacking in one department' as I thought of that I was called again
"Imbecile...do you want to die?" she said in a really cold tone
"Please forgive me" I immediately apologized
'Please stop with the mind reading!'
"Fool, I did not read your mind, it's obvious from your expressions, well no matter" she said as a matter of factly
"If you're looking for your friends then they're currently in the realm of brother Tempus receiving the purification blessing"
"Oh thats good then but why am I not with them there?"
"Sit" she demanded
"..Oh yeah, thank you" I proceeded to sit facing her
"Do you not remember your Talent type?"
"My talent type?... its Mystic, but what does that have to d-wait are you"
"Yes Im the one responsible in explaining and releasing your ability, of course Im also going to grant you the purification blessing"
"So you're the God that my powers are closely connected to"
"Well now that you're aware, prepare yourself to receive the purification blessi-"
"Wait! before you give me the blessing and release my ability, please answer my questions first" I pleaded earnestly
She stared at my eyes, then placed the tea she was drinking down the table
"Very well, it would'nt change what I had to do right after giving you the blessing, I would have still told you about the premise of your concerns"
"Wait really! Thank you very much!,... but why?" I asked confused
"As you know, you're the second batch of champions summoned to Feloria, the first generation of champions also asked questions like you when they first came here"
"In addition to that, my siblings came into an agreement that you have the right to know the truth, wether after knowing it would you still be willing to fight for a world that is not yours" she paused
"So what is the truth that you seek?"
I clenched my hands into a fist under the small table as I felt my throat become dry as I asked the question that was always on my mind after we were dragged to this world, I also feared the answer that lied behind it
"Can I-Can we still go back to our world, to our home?" I said nervously as I stared straight to her deep blue eyes
I patiently waited and as she opened her mouth and spoke the words with no hesitation at all
"No, you champions can't go back to your world anymore" she spoke as clear as my ears could hear
In that moment I felt my-our hopes shattering into tiny litle pieces
Im not liking the m.c at all...too beta
He is a terrified teenager dragged to an unknown place by a terrorist who is calling himself a king and can clearly kill him anytime. He has no allies in this world and pretty much everyone sees him as a convenient combat slave.
@Gahar80 he is leverage.. i just find him far too easilyly rolling over to the whims of others. Also...you would think there would be some criteria for hero summoning. Not just snatching an entire classroom of rando's who are as you said terrified teenagers...maybe some inner monologs of the m.c plotting behind the backs of the gods etc. Could help idk he just come off as too much a beta not someone who is biding his time.
@Chaddts After many isekai novels i have read i`m pretty much sure that only criteria for hero summoning is to be as timid and cooperative for kidnappers as possible. What other reason for summoning teenagers without combat training and battle experience? The evil gods who are helping with summoning are handing over gifts which are fantasy equivalents for our worlds nukes to the"heroes" so it is natural for them to want people easy to manipulate to be summoned.
@Gahar80 kids are esy to manipulate teenagers typically are inherently rebellious and questioning. Humans are typically distrustful of kidnappers be they gods or not. The reason I brought "why summon a classroom of rando's" is specifically die to the gods having taken an active part in who they chose. I can get not grabbing marines but let's say the criteria was talent and age..and with added bonus of wanting to manipulate them choosing strangers is obviously helpful. Plus they can pick for the best talents..not just a random group of kids...you choose the best to fit the purpose. Which wouldn't be this.....
@Chaddts I actually have a couple of theories why gods are choosing young randoms (and i know that in reality the true reason is a lazy plot device). First i a rule of the gods of Earth who are forbidding a conscious choice. Second is because summoning magic is not that precise. Third because summoned people are just expandable spell casting machines for otherworlders and their personal threads are of no importance. And for why they do not rebel is because summoning circles have typically slavery magic installed. Sadly summoning itself is not that important for writers and they don't bother to include any of this in their novels to explain anything.
@Gahar80 well this one does. And well reasoning needs addressing. You can say anything like its the cheapest way to get the most bang for the buck. And explain the age restriction with some b.s like manipulation or lack of potential conditions or injuries...where is the diabetic dieing from no t having insulin???
