[“Where did you find her?”]

[“Picked up around third floor.”]

I casually answered. This wasn’t a lie, I really did pick her up there, I just omitted the things that happened. I didn’t know how he would react when he heard that she teleported into this dungeon, which was probably breakage of its law. Well, he didn’t show a lot of respect for the rules in the first place, but better be safe than sorry.

I noticed there was a bit of a lag in his response, but he didn’t seem to mind limited the limited explanation.

[“I swear, if there were more people like her in my era, maybe the goddess wouldn’t have to die.”]

Here he goes again, I was slowly starting to suspect that he had a thing for her.

[“If there were more people like her now, this dungeon would be long conquered, so this is a good thing that geniuses are so scarce, they would be a worst nightmare for us monsters.”]

[“True, I’m a bit of a guest here, but if there were strong humans constantly trying to conquer this dungeon, I would surely have to fight them occasionally, and that would be the end of my peaceful life. You’re right, too many geniuses on human side would never be good.”]

She’s not human though, I wanted to say but I stopped myself.

[“Hey, I have a question, how did you get to this floor. From my point of view, you’re far too weak to beat the previous boss. If I were a legitimate one, you wouldn’t be able to progress further at all.”]

[“You didn’t know? A weird monster named lich duke appeared when we were on the tenth floor, and after beating it we were thrown onto this one.”]

[“But that’s impossible, even that goddess wouldn’t be so unreasonable.”]

Well I didn’t know her, so I had nothing to say, I just made sure to signalize him I was as confused as he is now. I seriously have no idea why would we be thrown so high, when most likely our strength was only sufficient to reach about thirtieth flor.

[“Well, if that’s really the case, then you really have no chance of going up any further, I won’t let you do so. How would I be able to look the queen into the eyes after telling her I let you die?”]

So unless we beat that dragon, he would stop us from ascending huh? Well, nothing new, I just started to leisurely create more thread to swing at him. He was confused at first, but then it clicked for him.

[“Wait, I said wait! I’m not saying I won’t let you ever ascend. I just won’t let you die pointlessly. What I mean is, I’m offering to train you two until you’re both strong enough to fight on the upper floors. I don’t know how they look like, but I can help you be at least a bit prepared.”]

Oooh, so that’s what he meant, I was pretty sure I was going to die today. But if all he wants is to train us, we will gladly accept, I doubt anyone in this world ever trained under an ancient dragon, so this would be a pretty big boost for us, even after leaving this dungeon.

[“I remember training that one guy who made a deal with your mother. I swear I have never seen someone as tenacious as him, but at the end he didn’t reach even half of my power, so he left full of regret. I think I got some experience in teaching from this.”]

I take my words back. Also, I don’t want to ever meet that guy, if he really reached half the power of an ancient dragon, this would mean his stats were in four digits, and that meant he was even more of a monster than me, and I am a literal monster.

The humans I met before were all weak if you compared them to the dragon, and if that was average, I’m pretty sure that guy could be considered as some sort of a hero. Maybe he was a druid too? And maybe he bonded with that dragon? That would be terrifying.

[“You hear that Felicia? We’ll be training under a dragon.”]

Aaand, of course she didn’t hear that, she was still asleep after all.

[“Do you have some water”]

I asked the dragon.

[“There is a small stream on the other side of the cave, there are also some wooden containers left by the guy I was talking about. What do you need it for?”]

Oh you will see soon enough. I went to the stream and filled one of the buckets full of water, then came back to the catkin. Finally I proceeded to dump it all onto her, but not before I said;

[“It’s bath time!”]

When the water was in the air, about half the way to her, her eyes suddenly opened, then before I noticed, she wasn’t there anymore. Somehow she ended up near the stairs, about thirty meters away.

[“I couldn’t see her move.”]

Oh, so even an ancient dragon can freeze in amazement huh?
