CHAPTER 62: MO FAN'S NIGHTMARE BECOMES DREADFUL REALITY...

ORIGINAL Author: Chaos

SPINOFF Author: Vester

The night hung heavy with an ominous silence as Mo Fan soared through the sky, his body bathed in the ethereal glow of Space Magic.

Awoo~

Awuu~

Below him, the city lay shrouded in darkness, invaded by grotesque wolf monsters whose haunting howls echoed through the empty streets.

After helping the Battlemages a dozen minutes ago, he now almost reached the vicinity of the Northern Mountain road!

Zwoosh~

He flew even faster and the Northern Military Post was soon in his sight!

But dread soon creeped up on him as he saw the military post utterly destroyed by the monsters. It was completely wrecked and in tatters and devoid of any presence of humanity! Even a black smoke was being emitted from the place…

The military post was quite huge, with a border and thick metal gate surrounding it, but the wall was destroyed the gate was chewed out and the tents were laying on the ground while the watch towers now housed wolves which kept howling as if they owned the place…

_No… Dad, please be okay…_

Mo Fan’s heart palpitated with fear. He immediately started to search for his Father’s white van among everything.

Awooo!!!

Awuuu!!!

All the monsters present there felt his presence and looked above at him. They howled hungrily at him as they would be able to eat a new delicious meal!

The place was filled with One-eyed Magic wolves and Colossal Eyed Ape rats. He could see a lot of blood splatter and remains of squashed bloody meat puddles everywhere. A testament to the battle and defeat of the soldiers guarding the place.

Mo Fan ignored all of that and searched for his father’s van everywhere… but he couldn’t find it even anywhere…

Mo Fan's voice trembled with a mixture of desperation and realization. "It's... Not here! That means he either never made it here, or he has already left from here," he uttered, the words hanging heavily in the air.

A small speck of hope glittered in his despaired filled eyes!

ZWIP~

His body glowed in the mysterious silver colour as he immediately vanished from the place and flew along the road to check!

ZWOOM!

As he neared the mountain road, Mo Fan’s heart raced. The moonlit path revealed the relentless advance of the wolf monsters, their eyes gleaming with an otherworldly hunger.

Mo Fan soared along the bloodied mountain road, he couldn’t help but notice the gruesome evidence of the monsters’ rampage. Blood patches marked the path every ten meters, and the menacing One-eyed Magic wolves prowled nearby.

“Dad… Where are you??” Mo Fan murmured. He was relentlessly searching for his father’s van but it was not visible anywhere.

Rrrroarr!!

A Three-eyed Magic wolf suddenly ambushed Mo Fan from above the mountain!

“Hmm… Whoa?!” Mo Fan barely dodged the Wolf’s attack!

Whoosh~

THUD!

He descended swiftly, his Space Magic propelling him with unparalleled speed.

Grrr…

As he landed gracefully on the ground, a pack of One-eyed Magic wolves surged forward, their eyes gleaming with hunger.

“Tch… Move out of MY WAY!!” Mo Fan roared!

A Flaming and Thundering aura unleashed a barrage of Lv.5 Fire Bursts and Lightning Strikes within milliseconds, each strike precise and devastating.

Waves of Scorching flames engulfed the wolves, while Bolts of lightning crackled through the air, decimating any who dared to approach.

BOOOM!!!

DDRRR!!!

DDRDDRRR!!!

BAAAMM!!!

Awuu!!

Rrwuu!!

The wolves, overwhelmed by Mo Fan’s power, retreated momentarily, but more soon emerged from the shadows, thirsting for blood.

“Fucking pieces of shits!” Undeterred, Mo Fan continued to fend off the relentless onslaught, his movements fluid and controlled.

He had already sent back his Snow Frost Star Wolf as it had gotten tired. Otherwise he wouldn’t even need to fight them!

After nearly half an hour of intense combat and searching, Mo Fan’s perseverance paid off as he finally spotted the familiar sight of his father’s white van.

“Is… is that?! Dad!!” Mo Fan shouted as he sprinted towards the familiar looking Van wave as he stepped on all the corpses of the monsters!

A wave of relief washed over him as he finally found his father.

However, his relief turned to horror as he approached the vehicle, its off-white exterior marred by blood patches.

“… No…”

Ka Thud!

With trembling hands, Mo Fan opened the door of the van, his heart pounding in his chest.

“—Huek!”

Mo Fan and his father, Mo Jiaxing, sat at a cozy restaurant, savouring their meal. Mo Jiaxing looked around, taking in the lively atmosphere of the restaurant.

“This place is nice, isn’t it, Dad?” Mo Fan said, breaking the silence.

Mo Jiaxing nodded, a smile playing on his lips. “It’s lovely. I always enjoy coming here with you, Mo Fan.”

Mo Fan chuckled. “Yeah, it’s our little tradition, isn’t it? How’s work been, Dad?”

Mo Jiaxing shrugged. “Same old, same old. But it keeps the lights on, right?”

Mo Fan nodded, a look of admiration in his eyes. “You work so hard, Dad. I hope I can be as dedicated as you when I grow up.”

Mo Jiaxing smiled warmly. “You will, Mo Fan. I have no doubt about that. You’re already such a responsible young man.”

As they continued to enjoy their meal, the conversation drifted to lighter topics, and Mo Fan cherished these moments with his father, knowing that they were precious.

After their meal came to an end, Mo Fan’s eyes gleamed with excitement as he presented a small square box to his father.

“Dad, I have something for you,” Mo Fan said, his voice brimming with anticipation.

Curious, Mo Jiaxing opened the box to reveal a beautifully crafted incarnadine bracelet, shimmering with a faint magical aura. “What’s this, Mo Fan? It’s beautiful,” he exclaimed, admiring the intricate design.

“It’s a magic bracelet,” Mo Fan explained. “It’s not just any bracelet—it can protect you from even a ruler-level monster. With this, you’ll be safe no matter what.”

Mo Jiaxing was touched by his son’s thoughtfulness. “Thank you, Mo Fan. This is truly a remarkable gift, but how did you get the money to buy it?? I’ve heard magic equipment costs a fortune.” Mo Jiaxing said while looking worried.

“Dad, did you forget? I’m an Intermediate hunter~ buying one or two of this is nothing~” Mo Fan said while closing one of his eye and showing off his intermediate Hunter badge. He was lying after all...

An intermediate hunter wouldn’t even dream of buying a valuable equipment like this. Even a Hunter Master wouldn’t be able to buy it even if they used their entire fortune, lol~

“O-oh! You little rascal! When did you became an Intermediate hunter?!” Mo Jiaxing started jumping up and down in joy while patting and ruffling Mo Fan’s head.

He was extremely proud of Mo Fan right now. An intermediate hunter was akin to something like a Police Commissioner after all! It was a big achievement!

“Ah, c’mon dad! I’m not a kid anymore!” Mo Fan said while he egged his dad to stop patting him in front of the everyone. He was a little embarrassed.

The people nearby were laughing and giggling at them.

“Haha! You’ll always be a kid to me, you brat! Thank you for the present, I’ll treasure it always,” Mo Jiaxing said, slipping the bracelet onto his wrist.

“I’m just happy to repay you for raising me, even if it’s just a little bit.” Mo Fan said as he poured his father a drink.

“Hehe! You’re acting like an old man despite being in your second year of high school, you punk!” Mo Jiaxing said cheerfully.

“Well, I grew up watching you, so~” Mo Fan retorted joyfully.

What he saw inside struck him to his core—a scene of carnage, blood splattered across the interior, and his father’s life-saving magic equipment lying abandoned on the seat.

For some reason watching the bloodied magic bracelet caused Mo Fan to remember the time when he gifted Mo Jiaxing the bracelet…

Mo Fan’s mind raced with fear and confusion as he realized the gravity of the situation.

His father, equipped with the bracelet Mo Fan had gifted him, should have been able to defend himself against any threat, even that of a Ruler-level monster.

But now, all he saw was the amputated bloodied hand of his father, the magic equipment still clasped firmly around his wrist and forming a barrier around it…

“…”

Dread crept over Mo Fan as he faced the grim reality of what may have transpired in his absence.
