However I can't expect people reading what is still a smut novel to wait forever for any kind of development either. So the end result is a compromise where I give them a somewhat forced, but still plausible, first one to get the ball rolling and leave some of the more serious efforts for other times.
This first one gives them some smut to enjoy while they wait for more serious developments and also gives the MC his first ability so he can start growing instead of just struggling a bunch to make his first step forward which would be the most realistic outcome if someone who had nothing going for them ended up in the same situation. His second target actually takes a lot longer to succeed and there are others that are even slower to develop.
