Change 1: Leveling up the class gives immediate benefits. Leveling up the race requires rest to take effect.

Change 2: Analysing others requires a skill for that. I am removing the ability to analyze without the relevant skill. So Cornelia can't tell Tenta's race at first glance.

Just as Tenta finished inspecting his skills...

Knock* Knock* Kacha*

"Girls, please wake up. You start working in half an hour, and breakfast will be in two hours." Madilyn, the farmer's wife, said and closed the door.

With that, the girls naturally woke up.

{Good morning, Cornelia!} Tenta said.

{Good morning, Tenta.} Cornelia replied and got up.

Through her eyes, he saw a rustic guest room inside the farmhouse, with Mika waking up on another bed. She was only wearing a braless linen shirt and panties, revealing her limber and slightly toned figure previously hidden under her armor.

"Good morning, Mika." Cornelia said, rubbing her eyes.

"Mew Meowrning...Yawn*~" Mika rubbed her eyes and yawned, not noticing she just did...

"CUTE CAT-TALK, GET!!!" Tenta became excited. "So she does have cat talk!"

Oblivious to his thoughts, the two girls quickly put on their clothes and armor, ready for another day of work.

Meanwhile, Tenta also checked the party status.

Cornelia Duskgrove's party

Members:

  • Cornelia Duskgrove: lvl 6 Human, lvl 18 Novice Magic-Caster Class (Party Leader)
  • Mika Morninggrass: lvl 7 Beastkin(Feline), lvl 17 Novice Warrior Class
  • Tenta: lvl 6 Juvenile Consentacle, lvl 1 Novice Warrior Class

The level of their classes didn't change, but Mika's racial level went up. It could be seen that Cornelia and Mika continued hunting while Tenta was sleeping. And Tentacle User counted as a warrior class.

{Cornelia, how many did you kill after I was out?} Tenta asked.

{Ten. We stopped because I was low on mana, and Mika got tired.} Cornelia said.

{Did you enter the fields to do it?} Tenta curiously asked.

{No, we placed some baits to draw them out. Entering such unfavorable terrain is suicidal, and we would damage Walter's crops.} She said. {If anything, only you can enter safely without causing too much harm.}

{Why not use traps or poison the bait?} Tenta curiously asked.

{They are smarter than regular vermin, and the traps needed to catch them are too large and expensive. And they have strong poison resistance.} Cornelia replied. {Smart as dogs, large as dogs, dangerous as dogs, aggressive as rabid dogs, and powerful stomachs and immune systems.}

{Makes sense.} Tenta replied.

{And what about you? Did you heal? I see you switched classes now.} Cornelia said.

{Yes, I feel much better now, but you should summon me first to see if I regenerated my lost tentacle. And I switched to a class called Novice Tentacle User.} Tenta reported.

{Good. Now... You said you have a second class. Describe what it does.} Cornelia said.

{Alright...} Tenta agreed and started explaining.

After he explained the details of the extra class, Cornelia replied, {It is indeed powerful... However, the experience restriction is a considerable demerit. Don't level up that class for now. Wait until you have at least one fighting class at lvl 15.}

{Okay.} Tenta agreed.

After Cornelia and Mika finished their preparations, they carefully headed downstairs, where they saw Madilyn making breakfast.

"Good morning, girls," Madilyn said and pointed at a basket on a table. "The baits are in the basket. Remember to not use too much at a time. Walter went to the merchant with the preserved meat and pelts and would return soon. If you catch any rabbits, bring them to me for now. As for the rats, throw them in a pile after taking the tails. We will collect them later and add them to the hog feed."

"Okay, Ms. Owen," Cornelia replied.

The two girls then took the basket and headed out.

Once near the field, Cornelia took out her wand and summoned Tenta.

{Ah... It's good to be out.} Tenta said, stretching his tentacles. After leveling up three times, he felt somewhat stronger now.

He then looked at his severed limb. The tentacle didn't fully regenerate, but a good half was healed. His other injuries have more or less healed. {Wow, Tentacle Monsters sure have high regeneration rates.}

{That's part of the reason they are hard to kill. And also why many hate them.} Cornelia said and opened the basket, taking out a smelly morsel of food.

{Blegh, what is that?} Tenta asked, somewhat disgusted by the stench.

{Monster bait. It is covered in certain spices, enticing to certain monsters, such as Giant Rats and Horned Rabbits, but smells bad to other monsters.} Cornelia explained and placed a piece on the ground.

{Hm... I see.} Tenta replied.

After putting the bait on the ground, Cornelia immediately closed the basket and put it on the side, waiting with Mika and Tenta for the monsters to come.

Several minutes later...

Rustle* Rustle*

A rat exited the field, attracted to the bait.

"Tenta, it's yours," Cornelia said.

{Okay!} Tenta replied and crawled forward, blocking in front of the bait.

Squeek* The right cried and charged at Tenta, hell-bent on getting that delicious food.

Following his usual tactic, Tenta let the rat bite a tentacle before wrapping the rat and counter-biting, killing it.

While Tenta finished off the rat, two more figures exited the field, attracted to the smell, but Cornelia and Mika dealt with them with a dark bolt and a parry, followed by a slash.

They hunted for half an hour, netting five Horned Rabbits and four Giant Rats before Walter returned with an ox cart, evaluated the rabbits, bought them, started draining their blood, skinned them, deboned them, and preserved the meat.

In the meantime, the trio continued hunting vermin, killing another eight rats and seven rabbits before breakfast.

The girls then had breakfast inside the house while Tenta enjoyed his ratty meal and healed his wounds while next to Walter, under Walter's insistence, and he had a pitchfork handy. The last experience made him fearful of another attack.

Of course, after fighting and eating, Tenta received plenty of experience.

Level Up!

Juvenile Consentacle lvl 6 -> 8
Parasite lvl 1 -> 4
Novice Tentacle User lvl 1 -> 5

You gained new skills!

Tentacle Technique lvl 1

Having two classes at once halved the advancement rate. However, since Tentacle User had other experience-gaining methods, it reached lvl 5 ahead of Parasite, despite starting later.

The Tentacle Technique Skill also improved Tenta's control over his tentacles, making him more confident in mitigating damage.

"I wonder what the Parasite Skill would look like..." Tenta thought. "Hopefully, it can increase my experience... And not suck blood to regain health... Though that might also be useful."

After taking a two-hour break, Tenta and the girls returned to clearing the fields. After killing another rat and rabbit, Tenta finally leveled up. And just in time, since he couldn't fight anymore. His tentacles were a wreck.

Level Up!

Parasite lvl 4 -> 5

You gained a new skill!

Leecher lvl 1

"Leecher? That... Doesn't sound good." Tenta squinted and checked the skill.

Leecher lvl 1

Years of being a professional parasite have taught you how to attach yourself and leech off of others' hard work.

When inside a party, you gain (Skill lvl)* Kill EXP attributed to all other party members without affecting their experience gain. Effective up to 10*(Skill Level) meters from the members.

"... Oh... Yeah, that is despicable, alright..." Tenta thought.

It was that kind of skill that encouraged you to sit back while letting others do the dirty work for you. Or rather, at lvl 2, it was already better to let them do it.

However, such a thing was unrealistic. And there were other limitations.

"At level 1, the range is painfully short, so if our party is spread wide, I would miss experience points. And although it boosts me... It doesn't boost the others in my party. When my level outstrips theirs... Who am I supposed to leech off, then? And wouldn't they realize something is off when looking at my rising levels? That would raise question marks, possibly anger and jealousy... I need to speak with Cornelia."

{Hey, Cornelia? Is there a way to hide levels in the party menu?} Tenta asked.

Cornelia, who was cutting off a rat tail, looked at Tenta.

{Why?} She suspiciously asked.

{Eh... I might have gotten a passive experience hack...} Tenta embarrassedly said.

{What is a 'hack'?} Cornelia tilted her head.

"Oh, right... They don't have computers here..." Tenta realized.

{You can say it is an unfair cheat, like cheating in cards or loading dice. I... now get all the experience the other party members get while doing nothing... And I can't shut it off... Hehe...} Tenta dryly laughed.

{... Does it affect my experience?} Cornelia tensed up and directly asked.

{No, I only get a copy...} Tenta replied.

Cornelia sighed in relief, {That scared me for a moment. Is it from another unique class?}

{Yes.} Tenta said, not giving the name.

Cornelia nodded and returned to her bloody work.

{You can hide your level but not your race and class. Take note of that.}

{Nice!} Tenta said and tried manipulating his party menu while eating the rat. As a result...

Cornelia Duskgrove's party

Members:

  • Cornelia Duskgrove: lvl 7 Human, lvl 19 Novice Magic-Caster Class (Party Leader)
  • Mika Morninggrass: lvl 7 Beastkin(Feline), lvl 18 Novice Warrior Class
  • Tenta: lvl ? Juvenile Consentacle, lvl ? Novice Warrior Class

"Good..." Tenta thought, satisfied.

It wasn't bulletproof, but you had to look at him with a magnifying scope to tell a problem.

While he was eating, Cornelia and Mika fought three more vermin coming out of the field. And the result...

Level Up!

Novice Tentacle User lvl 5 -> 6

"Sorry Cornelia, Sorry Mika... But I am forced to be a Leecher. So don't blame me~" Tenta merrily thought.

Like that, while being a couch potato, Tenta received another eight kills worth of experience before the girls took another break.

Level Up!

Juvenile Consentacle lvl 8 -> 9
Parasite lvl 5 -> 6

"Hah... So comfortable..." Tenta thought.

{Well? Did you level up?} Cornelia asked.

{Yes!} Tenta happily said.

{Good, continue leveling that new unique class of yours.} Cornelia said.

{Okay!} Tenta readily agreed.

"Cornelia, let's take a break," Mika said, wiping her forehead. "Moving so much in this weather is killing me. I might make a mistake soon."

It was the middle of summer, and the sun was blazing in the sky. It was too much for a warrior like her to fight for a long time.

"Okay. I think we hunted plenty enough. Let's sell the carcasses to Mr. Owen and drink something in the house." Cornelia said.

"Fine by me," Mika replied and helped carry rabbit carcasses to Walter, who was bleeding and skinning over a dozen rabbits.

"Mr. Owen, here are another four rabbits. We're going to get a drink in the house later." Mika said, dropping a dehorned rabbit.

"Good work. You girls worked more than enough. Consider the request completed." Walter wiped his sweat and smiled. "Go relax and eat a light lunch, and I will give you the money I owe you."

"But there are still vermin in the field," Cornelia said.

"No worries. I can re-issue the request at the guild. If you like, you can retake it tomorrow." He said and continued handling the meat and pelts.

"Okay, thank you, Mr. Owen!" Mika said.

After the two girls handled the other carcasses, they headed inside the farmhouse and had a light lunch while chatting with Walter over the extra pay.

"Okay... So yesterday, we settled on 22 SC. Today, you got me 20 carcasses in slightly better condition than yesterday, so I'll buy them all at 80% source price of 32 Silver Coins. That totals 54 Silver coins, but I'll round it up to 55. What say you?" Walter asked.

"We have a deal, Mr. Walter." Cornelia and Mika brightly smiled.

55 Silver Coins was over twice the payment at the guild. They also subjugated 37 Giant Rats and 33 Horned Rabbits, netting them 35 Silver Coins. If coupled with the 20SC reward... They get 110 Silver Coins! That is 55 SC when divided.

It was more lucrative than patrolling the sewers!

Of course, a large part was due to the convenience of selling the rabbits at the farm on the spot. Without that, the Sewer Patrol would be more lucrative.

"Good." Walter smiled and took out a heavy purse, taking out coins and placing them on the table in stacks. "Please count."

After Cornelia verified the amount, she took the coins and placed them in the backpack.

"It was a pleasure doing business with you, Mr. Owen." Cornelia smiled.

"No, thank YOU! And thank that... Consentacle pet of yours, Tenta, too. Without him, I would be in deep trouble." Walter smiled. "I spread the word in the market, and my word holds a lot of weight, so it might be easier for others to accept him now. And I told my kids and siblings about it. My eldest works in the city hall, the second eldest is a deputy in the City Guard, and my youngest daughter is married to the Mayor's son. My eldest sister is also a successful merchant, my second sister is a healer in the Healer's Guild, and my youngest brother works in the Adventurer's Guild. I believe they can help you in times of need."

"Thank you, Mr. Owen!" Cornelia and Mika's smiles widened. That was indeed a good thing.

They didn't expect a remote farmer to have so many connections. You can't judge a book by its cover.

After finishing the light meal and bidding farewell with a full bag and brimming purse, Cornelia and Mika went to Tenta, who was eating another rat.

"Come on, Tenta. We're leaving." Cornelia said, pulling out her wand.

{Okay!} Tenta said, gulping another piece of flesh.

After un-summoning him, Cornelia and Mika walked back to the city. On the way, Mika asked an obvious question.

"Say, why did Tenta hide his level?" She asked.

Hiding your level was a relatively frowned upon act, but it wasn't a big deal since he was Cornelia's familiar, and she showed her level.

"He said he was shy about it, so I told him how to hide it." Cornelia bluffed.

"Ah, okay." Mika shrugged, not taking it seriously. To her, Tenta was like a young child or dog, so she didn't put much thought into it. Her assumption would be correct if he weren't a reincarnated individual with cheats.

When they got to the tall city walls, it was already afternoon. Unlike when exiting, when entering, there was a more rigid procedure.

Luckily, they were also adventures, so they got to pass the gate after showing their guild cards.

They then walked in the outskirts until they reached the guild hall.

Some people are getting salty over me dropping the previous novel and spamming low ratings. It is unfair... But I can understand. Some people are just narrow-minded.

That's why I won't take it to heart and see it as dogs taking a shit on my yard. I believe this novel will get a fairer rating after I reach chapter 30.

Cheers.
