A crime thriller about a trans girl fighting against the injustices of an uncaring system, the religious fascists gaining power, and the criminal elements of her city that are as much friend as they are foe.
At least she has a bombastic gay girl to show her the ropes!

The real crime is that this story has no reviews.
A fast-paced story about how one girl gets sucked into a life of crime, including drug running, prostitution, and murder. All the while, she's trying to not become a total monster. It is not an easy story to read, the bigotry and violence are not toned down at all.
Yet every step into the abyss seems like the right thing to do at the time. Ashe's main concern is keeping everyone safe (even alive) in a city where that seems impossible. The conflicts she has are the driving force with several romantic couples adding spice to the mix. The stakes are very high with several groups vying for control of the city and Ashe simply wanting to graduate, get GRS and go live somewhere else with Crystal. Except now everyone's counting on her to save them.
An excellent story that is unlike anything else here.

Well-written. Points out how there's corruption in the system, and how slippery of a slope crime could be (not that I have experience).
The only thing I don't like about it is more about me than the story, I just don't usually stomach corruption narratives well. It's dark, and it doesn't shy away from any issues that might plague a small deeply-red town in the South. It's not for the faint of heart.
Still, to anyone brave enough? I would recommend it.
