What do you do when you know the world is about to burn, and the only thing you can do is to cook?
You cook.
With more spirit this time.

All Lei wanted was to become a great chef. He labored his way around this kitchen or that and even tried opening a restaurant himself, only to fail miserably. Just when life taught him to be realistic, he found himself in a Xianxia world, in a broken house with no one by his side.
It was an honest life in this new world. With a makeshift stall, he sprinkled a new flavor to the lives of these medieval people, finding peace in simplicity. But this new life came with a system, and the system had another plan for him in the long run.
He is to become a cultivator if he wants to survive the approaching disaster, and he has to do it with his cooking.

What to expect:
- Gourmet chef cooking seasoned wings, heart-warming soups, grilling spiritual beasts.
- A sort of different system that has complex skills.
- This is not a slice-of-life story.
- Our MC will cultivate, although a touch more different than others.
- The LitRPG elements will be light. There won't be any stats.
Normally I'm not a big fan of Xianxia series, but this one has something special in it that doesn't feel like your typical Xianxia cultivation series. The characters are really fleshed out and not just one-dimensional characters you'd expect from a Xianxia series, with some side characters being arguably better than the MC. Not to say that MC is bad, no. He is relatable and it's fun to read his story, it's just that some side characters serve story really well, especially because of the author's ability to write amazing dialogue. Definitely worth reading.

Its a different take than your average Xianxia. Sort of like Gourmet System, but the system is light, and the setting is a cultivation sect than a restaurant. It starts with slow, engaging chapters, with different 3d characters, then slowly dives into the modern cooking stuf with some Xianxia troupes. I'm curios to see what the main character, Lei, can do with his cooking to make a difference in a cultivation, dog-eat-dog world!
I didn't spot any grammar mistakes, and the Author has a way with words, clearly not their first book.
Give it a try, you won't regret it!

Interesting way to start a litrpg story. MC is looks like cheif and making foods for sect, not yet system giving rewards to him but food making scenes and after Elders taste foods hyped me like good action story. Strong and slow start, I bet this is gonna be great Xianxia novel.

Food topics are not my preference, but I trust the author very much. In my opinion, he is the best webnovel translator in the world since he translated 20+ chapters in a single weekend. I think that with such a great translation experience, he can write novels of unquestionable quality. If you are reading this review, I recommend you give this novel and perhaps the author's other works a chance.

As someone who has read a lot of books in this genre, I can say that this book is a breath of fresh air. A story with as many interesting characters as MC rather than boring and unnecessary side characters definitely makes you feel that you are reading something different.
