Lan Chang’an has gone through two lifetimes of reincarnations, and in the third life, he aimed for stability until reaching the Nascent Soul Realm in hopes of unraveling the mysteries of the Nine Seal Stele. Consequently, he cultivated the Ancient Trees Evergreen Technique, which wielded modest power in return for greater lifespan.
His approach is not one of fearlessly engaging in battles, but of navigating with steady precision and forging meaningful bonds with others.
Throughout his long cultivation journey, he encountered individuals at various stages of their cultivation, including a Decent Faction Head, a Prodigious Beauty, a Giant Demon Lord, an Evil Cultivator, a Thousand-Year Old Demon, and a Puppet Master Pulling Strings From Behind The Scene.
Observing the ebb and flow of the world, witnessing its ups and downs, he unknowingly became a living fossil in the realm of cultivation, akin to an evergreen tree spanning through eternity.
In the world of mortals, the flow of life is steady, shrouded in the illusion of longevity, yet decisions are made decisively, with a clear sense of morality.

Really solid story about a cultivator who realizes that they actually have an extended lifespan so it really doesn’t matter how long it takes him to reach the next level as long as he doesn’t die. So many cultivator stories talk about reaching immortality or how elders are thousands of years old through their cultivation, but almost all of them only show people under 40. Its nice to see a story finally take advantage of the longevity cultivation provides to minimize risk, without it being something like “staying in a single spot and my system does all the work for me” trash. Overall, solid story and likable main character.

Reminds me of My Senior Brother is Too Steady, but I actually find this one better, and compared to what you usually expect to find in the Xianxia genre, which I have been an avid reader of for the past 6-7 years, it's a breath of fresh air.

The novel is very good, the MC is very cultivation focused, slower progress, but it has is still fun, the MC also has his own fun eventhough he is cultivation focsued, as well as the unique power he got. Makes a great novel, only wish I could have stacked before I read.

A solid 4.5 stars.
The progression per chapter pace is similar to early RMJI, so you know a story is being recounted and it's not junk food.
As for the plot itself, it's shaping up to be also similar to RMJI, in the way that a supposedly great cheat doesn't make the MC fearless to slap young masters left and right as he doesn't have the power to handle it freely.
Plus, along his cultivation journey, he also gets great opportunities, even if they feel less earned to Han Li, as here the MC doesn't engage in risk knowingly and expecting a great reward, but we readers are here for this kind of character so we can't complain.
I pause my reading here as it seems a great plot is opening up with the
gourd vine
All in all, it's a really solid deliverance of the premise we were promised.
Also also, many many thanks to the translator Zilawere🙏

Great novel, good translation and satisfying read. Top 3 among the ongoing novels I'm currently reading right now.

I like this novel a lot.
My only problem with it is that the MC holds maybe too much of a grudge for his character. I don't think he 'lets go' enough. The whole situation with Fu Xuemei in recent chapters was unnecessary risk for a dispute that happened decades earlier and that she had more than repaid in full.
That's the only flaw of the top of my head. It's a good novel and a good translation.

I love this book! Developments make sense and I like the MC. The characters beside MC also are fleshed out and actually have a personality and do actions with reason which is rare to see in cultivation novels. Thankfully MC doesn't marry so there is no waste of chapters on drama and we focus on cultivation, though he does have relationships. Thanks to the TL for his amazing work!

Good novel. Very slow paced though, slow paced as in the MCs cultivation is slow. The MC is very calculating and cautious, a bit too cautious even. Thanks for translating
