Alex has played every game ever made...except one...for good reason...
When Alex Lombardi receives an SNES Classic game console out of the blue, it appears that Nintendo Gods do exist. A huge fan of pixel art and retro games, Alex has been dying to replay some of the best titles of all time: Contra, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy, the list goes on. But what awaits the hardcore gamer isn't a trip down memory lane; it's a trip to the 16-bit world. And the only way to escape is to beat it.
*** AUTHOR'S NOTE ***
Schedule: 3-5 new chapters every week at random times during November. I may slow down in December, but if there's continued interest in the story, I promise to write faster!
Pixel'd is my first attempt at a LitRPG. It's my FIRST DRAFT, so expect plot holes and other mistakes :) Please give feedback on how to improve it. Very much appreciated!
Hot damn, I finally caught up with the chapters, I’ll put down a few of my thought about the last 20 or so chapters...
First, you cut a lot of the story and gameplay, which is fine since it allowed for the story to progress at breakneck speed but... we never even saw the boss fights, every unique fight merely became a different name. Furthermore what’s the point of new spells if they use them only in « omitted » battles, I don’t even know what Sever or Mollify do...
This setting is very generic and the faithfulness to the contrived old school rules made it unique in my opinion which saddens me a bit since it was discarded for a story walkthrough of the game.
Also the advanced classes!!
I hope if you do another series or a part two, you’ll keep the rpg aspects, cutting some fights is fine or resuming them by explaining « These Shark battle put our Bandage supplies at risk with their repeated use of Bleed status effects » for instance is a way to not overload chapters with numbers but we still need to see the protagonist grow.
Right now, he’s around level 36 and the fights stopped around the time his ass kept getting kicked by everything so he still seems like a lv 5 baby to me.
I still really like this series and hope you’ll keep writing
TLDR: Good read but more RPG elements in the right places pls
