Synopsis

On the 15th of March 2139, the world mourns the passing of Darius Stone, billionaire broker, and philanthropist.
Yet while his family and friends put his body to rest, Darius wakes up to find himself reborn into a younger body in a different world.
A strange voice informs him that his soul has been transported into the magic-filled world of Faust on the behest of a mysterious Goddess called Vena, for the sole purpose of entertaining her through his struggles.
In this world where any dream can be achieved with enough effort, he sets out to become a Supreme, an existence above Mortals and even Gods!

I like this story very much. The world building is not rushed, we get to read more into the main characters character (f**k me). He is a very opportunistic and materialistic person, but the man still has his morals.

I love that the author didn't forget the fact that our MC lived a very long life on earth before reincarnating, as many other stories, for some reason, do. He has a rational adults mind, and doesn't make silly hot-headed decisions like some other "smart protagonists" we sometimes see, do. He's an old man in a child's body and sometimes that body might get in his way psychologically. I have no clue to be honest, but the story hints at it.

The magic/combat system is very well explained. The author explains everything that's important, but still manages to not annoy us with unnecessary infodumps.

This story is slow-paced, but it doesn't feel that way at all. The author manages to make something as basic as finding a river in the woods very interesting to read.

All in all, this story has not really shown it's true colours yet in my opinion. I think that in the future it might be one of the more popular novels on this website.

      Kotario has me hocked.

      5/5 stars from me.

The novel pleased me a lot, especially the protagonist. Although he is a bad guy, he still has s*xual morals, which makes me very happy. And as much as the story is unfortunately still at the beginning, it is very promising, I am very anxious and I really want to see how his plans will impact the world.

Sorry for the poor writing quality, I am using Google Translate.

Spear and system, two words outline the big faults this novel has, the grammar is acceptable and the protagonist should have been written in my favourite style if it weren't for the big roadbumps that collapsed the novel for me.

Starting with system. System is very hit or miss for me, it's an easy to use easy to absorb way for the author to essentially tell us things about the world while only slightly breaking the 4th wall. Every time we see text in brackets like [this is their level and here is your weapon] that's essentially the author talking directly to us because they couldn't think of a smoother way to introduce that information. Inherently that's not a problem but you've gotta keep it in mind when writing because the more you use that bracketed text the more the 4th wall crumbles until there's no immersion left and this novel just happened to cross over that line.

Next is the spear. The MC, our supposedly super intelligent man, discards his entire strength base the moment he gets the chance to and then explains the reasons why in the most nonsensical way imaginable. He says some dumb sh*t like "ah yes, the spears short/mid range style perfectly compliments my long range style from magic" as if he didn't just hear himself say that nonsense. That would be like an Olympic runner showing up for the 100m sprint with a shot put in each hand so "the shot put exercise can perfectly compliment my sprint", doing two near opposite things at the same time is the OPPOSITE of complimentary. Shotguns don't have sniper scopes, we don't put buckshot rounds into artillery pieces. You can decide to carry a melee weapon on you for emergencies like having a dagger on your hip for when you run out of mana but his other option was a bow. Yes a BOW. The author chose to give the MC a spear instead of a bow despite the fact it made our MC look dumb as hell, despite the fact spear are the second most overused and lazy cliche weapon in all of fiction and despite the fact we didn't even have a vague excuse for the choice.

The reason I still give the novel 3 stars despite the fact I consider it a borderline parody of the original idea is that if someone really really likes system works or really really likes spears then these faults probably won't inhibit their enjoyment by much, sure the MC still sounds dumb as hell but that essentially becomes my only complaint with the novel if you throw the rest away in favour of preferences. I only got 21 chapters through so I can't speak for the plot but the writing quality was fairly good, the character wasn't insufferable in other contexts and having an MC be super successful pre-reincarnation would've been a fairly unique concept had it not been wasted on system-spear cliches.
