Synopsis

Fed up with a world where science has made every fantasy a reality and people just don’t care about stories anymore, a young video game developer named Kai uses ancient black magic to transport himself into one of his games, titled: Choices.

Disturbed by his powerlessness on Earth, Kai makes sure to give himself the ability to change this new world as he sees fit, literally.

If you were ridiculously powerful, would you throw away all your morals and do whatever you wanted? Would you find happiness? Would you find love?
Or would you end up realizing that…

Absolute power is pretty depressing.

Note: The format for chapter titles is: “Overall_number POV_number: Title." Look at the POV chapter number to see who is narrating.

Should slaughterer of millions judge killer of dozens?

If you think so, go ahead - skip my review and simply read story.

    Spoiler

Let's explain situation in short story.:

There was once a absolute being (our mc). He created heavens and earth, gave birth to life, yada, yada.[...]

"World is brutal" he said - while giving all life limited lifespan and frail bodies.[...]

"Yeah" [...] and made them grow stronger by killing other sentient life.[...]

Later, he created 6 human kingdoms under godly rule of his mindless puppets.[...]

And so when everything was created, he felt somehow empty or rather bored. Therefore, on a whim he made them periodically kill each others, purely for his entertainment.

    =================================================

Back to the topic: it feel pretty hypocritical when he basically KILLED others just for murder. Others= one of sides in conflict of interests. As I said before, he caused literally billions of deaths, yet MC feel... offended as they killed part of other side during fight. In fight where EVERYONE was armed, therefore for their own survival. And its only f**king chapter 2.

Mystery, Drama, Psychological - these are the unique genres. Mystery is neglectable as he is absolute being, able to know everything. Drama is all but act in face of absolute being. Psychology here is kinda twisted as explained above.

Basically when author make protagonist GODLY/OP from start, as it is impossible to build any tension, most of them go for either comedy or slice of life.

THIS story have neither of them. (2/10)

This story is just... wow. I read this a long time ago when it was out on Royalroad. I lived for the chapters that would come out. I waited patiently and constantly checked the site to see if a new upload would pop up.

The story is incredibly well written despite how strange it is. There are quirks with the overall world, but the author does an incredible job at portraying the reality that is complete power.

Kai has the power to rewrite the world, and is able to change things to his will. There is one thing that even he tries to avoid, however, but that will be for you guys to see. The character development is magnificent and honestly as weird as the setting is when you start to get into the later chapters, it all starts to fall together.

You definitely need to read this. Hands down. Everything feels so real, and it really makes you realize how lonely it must be to be all powerful and all knowing.

This story without a doubt deserves 5 stars, and you'd be a fool to not give it a shot.

Currently, I'm caught up with the series. This story has a lot of depth to it. The four characters that the story is from the perspective of are each unique in their own way, with differing goals and motivations, and you can see that the author put time and effort into crafting them. The main character, Kai, always seems to guide the story into a melancholic mood, while the others each add their own flavors as well. The plot line is somewhat original. The concept of people lamenting how powerful they are is not fresh, but the story of those traveling together is a very different matter. I would recommend this story to those that want to experience a wide variety of feelings, but a hell of a lot of melancholy.

This is something I strongly recommend if you are looking for a very well written story, the author has planned out the plot so that even the small details you read in the chapters are revelant later on. Also portays the downsides of actual omnipotence, it is really not as good as you would think from all those novels about the MC reaching the top of power after a long adventure, honestly, it is depressing. One of the main flaws with this story is, that it can be actually boring to read sometimes, most likely putting off some readers because of that.

    I love this story.

I read it on royalroad a while ago, and I fell in love.

The main character is an all-knowing god like being.

He knows everything he can do.

But he doesn't know what he should do.

That's basically the theme of this story

The ending is great, with an amazing twist.

    You should read this.

Overall a really good read. I personally can't give it a full 5 stars due to repeating confusion on what the hell was going on throughout the story, I feel explanations are too short at times and far too long at others, although you could argue that it adds suspense to the story. (Slight spoiler ahead)   - I also feel the love interests came out of nowhere, I understand Lilys love but all the other characters? Them falling in love makes next to no sense, the story keeps going on about friendship and family but now they're in love with each other? Kai says he has always been in love with her? And she just accepts it?! And has s*x with him?! WHAT?!? Makes little sense. - (End spoilers won't say names so no accidental reading of spoilers)

Also, it gets very confusing when trying to decipher who is talking when the POV changes without any warning, I find myself re-reading parts as I have no idea who is talking. There are a number of other things that bother me such as the training that Kai proposed only to get dropped in 2 chapters I can't help but rant as this is such a good story.

On to the pros of the story, which are too numerous to count. The story is written beautifully I often got chills while reading, was excited when the story hit climaxes, and felt invested in the character's actions and decisions.

When all is said and done, it is much easier to write about the faults of the story than the pros and would 100% recommend this story to anyone.

Finished this on Royalroad, since I saw comments mentioning the full version was there- Though I'd have preferred to read it here, I understand moving it can take time. It's a very good story. Perhaps my favorite thus far. The characters are lovable and definitely feel alive and grow through the story.I don't know if the romance was forced, but it definitely happened, and it felt cute. There's a lot that could be in the story, but isn't- and the story is long enough without it. The story is a bit confusing, and it takes a while to gather the pieces, but that's also its charm. Until the end, it leaves you wondering what's really happening. Then you want to hit yourself for not putting the clues together a bit earlier.I feel like there's better answers to the question, and better methods to the madness- But that's something I want to answer in my own fiction I plan to eventually write, though it might take a while to collect my feelings for it again after this.I give this story the highest of compliments. Originally, I decided to write because I saw stories succeed that were much worse than what I felt I could do. If every story was like this, I don't think I'd have the same confidence to write. But without stories like this, what can we aspire to?
