The biggest issue with this novel is that it's more of a 'retelling' instead of a fan-fiction. Plus the author expects everyone who reads this to have had read the original work. So a few times we're not given explanations on events due to it being 'obvious' where the MC is going next.
The MC here follows the same path as the original character, except that's he's slightly less brutal (because he has other cheats he can be *slightly* less brutal than the original and still get what he wants) he doesn't do anything really different. He still being a snake warlock, follows the same routes/etc.
The original novel had given the MC a deus ex machina level cheat with the AI Chip, this novel doubles down on that and given the MC a way to absorb and store the 'soul force' of the people/creatures he's killed. This soul force can heal him or help with breakthroughs, it also lets him further the 'Knight' path to make his body way way stronger than the original.
This book isn't crap because the original novel is good and, as I mentioned before, this is basically just a retelling. There is some unique events, but those pretty much just follow along with the original story.

I really hate this fiction. The original was all about the MC, with poor talent striving against the odds with his chip as his only tool.
You liked the original and your approach to improve it, is to give him more cheats? Not only does he get future knowledge, he gets some stupid lifeforce absorption innate ability that really bypass the progression of the original work.
