It has been 60 years since the Great Awakening. An event so grand and so destructive that it forever changed the world. Now it is considered the single best thing to ever happen in human history.

The Great Awakening brought with it terrifying monsters. To defend against the monsters, humans with newly gained supernatural abilities and superhuman levels of strength, speed, and endurance referred to as "Hunters" came into being. Over the years, the Hunters have successfully pushed back nearly all the monsters back to where they originated from, the dungeons. Sixty years after the Great Awakening and the world is now wholly dependent on monster cores and other exotic materials collected from monsters.

Meet Gideon, a 15 year old orphan who aspires to become the greatest Hunter. On his path, he will encounter numerous difficulties and struggles that will push him to the brink of insanity and death. Will he be able to become the greatest and retain his sanity at the same time?
