(Key: Moon Kingdom, Sun Kingdom, Terrestrial Kingdom, Unknown/Unspecified)
Androgynous Characters - Sinclair and Jisoo are explicitly non-binary. Koharu and Leo are pretty GNC in some regards.
Bisexual Protagonist - Both Ophelia and Leo are bisexual.
Boy's Love Subplot - There are quite a few minor BL couples. The most prominent pairing of these is between Inei and Hikaru.
Complex Family Relationships -
This pertains to the Matsuo family. Koharu is the adopted child of the kings, and Akiyoshi is the child of Inei and a surrogate mother. Akiyoshi knows this despite his parents trying to hide the fact, and he is in love with his sister. Koharu is unaware that she is not related to the rest of her family by blood. Inei is aware that he compromises his children's well-being during a poorly orchestrated political deal, but he chooses to solve the problem by confining his kids to the castle and making them resent him.
Court Official - Ophelia works as one of the top government officials as a part of Inei's council. Most other characters are employed under either Inei or Hikaru.
Discrimination - While the castle is effectively an LGBT+ safe space, characters experience discrimination for various reasons outside of it. Some of this is merely mentioned, though a few incidents take place "on-screen".
Dreams - Dreams are relevant in both of the major plots. They are the mechanism by which Ophelia and Koharu visit each other and travel between the Sun and Moon Kingdoms.
Dreams serve as a form of psychological torture for Sinclair and to some extent, Leo.
Early Romance -
Ophelia and Koharu get together by around Chapter 30 (1.10).
Fairies - Leo, Sinclair, Algor, and Aries are all fairies.
Interconnected Storylines - The Ophelia/Koharu and Leo/Sinclair plotlines deviate but affect each other from the start of Volume 2.
Kingdoms - The story takes place in the Sun, Moon, and Terrestrial Kingdoms.
Love Interest Falls in Love First -
Koharu likes (or at least, is interested in) Ophelia at the beginning and prior to the events of the story.
Magic - Magic isn't super common, but the fairies and royal family can use it.
Manipulative Characters - Pretty much everyone.
Inei, Koharu, Sinclair, and Algor are all pretty explicitly manipulative in some capacity or just very dishonest.
Multiple POV - The story is told from first person POV and switches between Ophelia and Leo's perspectives in Volume 2. Sinclair also has a few POV chapters for the sake of making a backstory section more interesting.
Multiple Protagonists - See above. Ophelia and Leo are both treated as protagonists, and arguably, their love interests (Koharu and Sinclair, respectively) could also be counted.
Mysterious Past - Many characters tend to conceal past events unless forced to reveal them.
Past Plays a Big Role - See above. Most of these past events are particularly relevant to the plot and heavily influence the character's personalities/decisions.
R-15 - The story has vague/implied sexual content, infrequent violence, coarse language, and some generally mature themes, though it's not R-18.
Secret Relationship -
Ophelia and Koharu have to keep their relationship hidden from the kings and a very specific person for reasons explained in the latter part of Volume 1.
Sharp-tongued Characters - Most of the characters are outwardly arrogant or smart-ass. Inei and Hikaru also bicker and say some pretty vile things to each other.
Time Travel - The fairies have the ability to temporarily travel through time and acquire items from both the future and past.
Ophelia and Koharu are thrown into the future after their relationship is revealed to the wrong person.
Tomboyish Female Lead - Both Ophelia and Koharu are pretty tomboyish--just in different ways.
Torture -
Sinclair frequently is tortured by violent dreams and sometimes wakes up with physical damage. This prevents them from sleeping for more than a few minutes.
Transgender - Sinclair and Jisoo are both non-binary.
The unwilling new advisor for the Moon Kingdom, in part due to a deal she made with Leo, Ophelia is the daughter of two castle employees–Ralph and Hideko. As a result of this and her decent education, she was considered for her position rather quickly, and she was already vaguely familiar with the royal family upon her arrival. She has a slightly unfriendly demeanor, but she appears to have a talent for sucking up to authority despite that. A bit of a realist, she sometimes gets flustered by any happenings that defy a rigid understanding of the world, though she will consider broadening her horizons with some effort.
And although she seems to bicker and push people away, she's extremely loyal and still keeps those she cares about close, even if she doesn’t always directly express her affection for them–except when it comes to her eventual girlfriend.
Koharu is the rather mischievous daughter of Kings Inei and Hikaru, making her the princess of the Sun Kingdom. Confined to the walls of the castle for nearly all her life, she is a true idealist with an active imagination that allows her to take any activity or item she can find and turn it into a whole new experience; however, her curiosity has led to a desire to explore the outside world without constant supervision. She is extremely bubbly around certain people and while childish, is generally kind (enough) to others. To pass the time, she often tends to or enjoys castle facilities and is known for collecting items from different time periods so that she can display them in a makeshift museum.
Even though she appears sincere, she is rather deceptive, yet her falsehoods usually belie a justifiable sense of longing and repressed emotions.
With an affinity for both blackberries and skirts, Leo acts as the guardian fairy for the Galaxy Kingdom, which is composed of the Sun and Moon Kingdoms. Of course, this role is mutable in a sense; he often has to be a voice of reason when it comes to keeping Kings Inei and Hikaru under control, though they have just as much control over him given that his life is in their hands. He is infamously playful and likes to watch the world burn around him for his amusement (figuratively–at least, that’s what everyone hopes). His spontaneity and apparent insincerity give others an impression of him being morally gray and self-centered, but he tends to have noble intentions when it comes to the things that matter to him. Additionally, he is Prince Akiyoshi's confidant.
Despite him being the fairy specializing in the physical world, very few people are aware that he is deeply emotional and sensitive, though he guards himself for fear of getting hurt… again and again and again.
Formerly the local kingdoms’ cupid as the fairy of emotions, Sinclair now works as a messenger, rarely ever staying in one place for more than an hour without a good reason. (Their home in Lunokhod is typically vacant, much to the disdain of King Inei.) They’re notorious for being a complete enigma; little is known about their past and true feelings since they are assumed to have no connections aside from their work and keep up a formal, mature front almost constantly. In addition, they are the only known fairy without wings, so they drive a chariot around and wear winged boots to travel shorter distances.
Their introversion and detachment are misleading in a sense given that they don’t inherently dislike other people, though.
As the king of the Moon Kingdom and blood successor to the throne, Inei has grown up in a life of superficial luxury. He is ridiculously stubborn yet considered rather benevolent compared to other rulers from the surrounding kingdoms. Most of his advisors find him to be a stick in the mud with his pastime of complaining, but he is generally very kind to those who serve under him–at least, outside of briefings. He tends to irritate his son, Akiyoshi, by procrastinating and making monumental decisions capriciously.
Apart from his husband, with whom he tends to argue over petty matters, the kingdom is his top priority, and it is thought that he would sacrifice nearly anything for the good of his people.
The Sun King, husband of King Inei, and brother of General Asahi, Hikaru has not lived in the castle his whole life because he married into his status. He was born to a working-class family in the border town of Altair and had experienced some hardships due to his economic status and sexuality. Yet despite these formative experiences–or perhaps as a result of them–he is recognized as a kind and empathetic ruler who puts the livelihoods of others above his own whenever possible; he tends to remain level-headed until the people he loves are threatened, particularly when there is no salvation in sight unless he can forge it himself.
Like the sun, he is a bright and emotional person at his core, gentle and guarded from a slight distance, and deceptively firm from the height of a balcony.
The son of Kings Inei and Hikaru, Moon Prince Akiyoshi is a brooding and mysterious figure, yet he is well-loved by many women due to his infrequent public appearances. He has always been close to his sister despite being her near-opposite; he tends to stick to rigid pastimes and hobbies without the spark of curiosity and is obsessively meticulous, planning Inei’s days by even the minute. He has a particular affinity for literature and escapism in general, though he still resents his parents for shoehorning him into this reclusive, exacting role without an alternative.
Although he likes to cover up his emotional outbursts by secretly visiting the trench between the Sun and Moon Kingdoms and bellowing out his frustrations, only his confidant, Leo, seems to know the true reasons behind his troubled mind that is sheathed by sheer coldness.
Algor is the fairy of the Terrestrial Kingdom, indicating that he currently serves King Daemon and Queen Lucy. However, he has been missing for many years with no intimations about his whereabouts or motives for disappearing. From what little is known about him in the Galaxy Kingdom due to verbal accounts (mostly from Leo’s mouth), he is not a particularly affectionate person and can even come off as a little awkward, yet he possesses a slightly paternal and almost charismatic aura that defies his true personality.
Given his magical abilities, he is believed to either rule over the physical world like Leo or perhaps another element of the human experience entirely, but nearly anything regarding him is mere speculation.
I'll be directly, its pretty fun reading it, it has a lot of LGBT people and they are important during the story and they aren't annoying or purposely put in, only to fit the criteria, its funny itself, but its a little confusing the pace and the ideia of the story itself, if you don't hate a slow pace and gentle atmosphere I'm sure you will like it, though the gentle atmosphere is something that won't change even in drastic situation, I do recommend though.
