Sorry, what? Those girls weren't trick-or-treaters, they were eldritch horrors from another dimension? And they weren't there for his candy, they were there for him?! Well, at least now he didn't have to be sad about being a boy and not getting to dress up as something cute. You win some, you lose some.
A trans novel about finding a place where you belong... somewhere strange.
I love this story so much. I have some reasons to be biased here, but it's truly a delight, with really great characters and neat worldbuilding (reminiscent of something like The Owl House). With so many isekai-ish stories being run-of-the-mill medieval fantasy, the spooky/weird aesthetic here sets it apart as being particularly unique - though despite the 'eldritch' trappings, the core universe is ultimately pretty lighthearted and a place that you will enjoy getting to spend time in. It's really neat to figure out how exactly things work as they unfold bit by bit, putting together the pieces at the same time as the out-of-place protagonist. I'm very excited to see where the story and characters go from here! This story feel like it covers one particular arc well, but opens several more doors, and I really hope to get to explore some of the other characters involved in future stories because they're all individually very cool in their own right. I'm really looking forward to seeing more about what their own deals are. (I can't even pick a favorite, I love them all, but I do think Terisse in particular clearly has some backstory going on that I'd love to get to see more of!!)

it's wonderfully strange & sureal, funny & odd, occasionally confusing but very very cute!

Loved it. Lots of funny moments, good heartwarming moments, and a very wacky setting. I liked stumbling upon every odd thing along with the main character and while there were a couple parts that I don't fully comprehend, it was a fun ride.
There are at least a few... logistical concerns regarding the ending but I'm sure that'll be addressed in future books, which I am very much looking forward to!

Ok, so I should preface this by saying that I really do not like horror. Good thing the only horrifying part of this story is the abusive mother though. Despite their exterior, the three eldritch girls are just incredibly adorable dorks, and this entire story is just a really sweet and comfy read. Reading about the protagonist finding herself and finding a place she belongs was really good and satisfying, and I would love to read more about these girls (especially since there seem to be some loose threads still?)
