Characters
Dara
Dara is supposed to be the daughter of the Gulvor merchant family heir, but she's treated worse than a slave.  The reason for her mistreatment is supposed to be her physical weakness, with no elemental affinity, and no ability to use elemental expressions, or skills.

After being whipped to within an inch of her life for even existing, she is given the choice to die, or fight to survive with all she has.  She chooses to struggle until the last moment of her life.
She finds a fruit in the old forest, and pulled in by her own hunger, she puts it in her mouth.
It was not a fruit. It was the seed of the Varra, which gives her the strength to fight back.
Gulvor Family
The Gulvor family is a merchant family that is far too small to even be considered a clan.
The heir, Sel Gulvor, has grown arrogant over the years, and treats his employees like slaves, and his slaves like animals.

If he manages to survive long enough for Dara to become confident in her own strength, he will find out how weak he really is.
Location
Brayton

A medium sized walled town near the old forest, and is the place where the population retreated to when their original town rejected their presence. On the east is the old forest with a heavy population of elemental beasts, including flame wolves, storm wolves, stone bears, and iron tusked boars.

On the west, several miles away from the town, the sea stands as a place of vast resources, but no humans have the strength to try to harvest it.

Race
Balask

A demi human whose ancestry could be traced back to the ancient basilisks and the times of chaos where many species had their genetics mixed, and interbred for unknown purposes.

Cananes

A werewolf and human breed mix. In the distant past, the werewolves took humans as mates through force and violence, but was actually an honorable choice.  When given the choice to kill savagely, or take them as a mate, the werewolves took men and women as a punishment for the loss of their own mates.

Unlike humans, werewolves were a tribal society, and if you offended the tribe, the entire tribe would respond to the crime. With humans, the country might bring an army if the offensive nature of the werewolves continued to invade their territory, but werewolves would never invade.  They only responded to the incursions into their hunting grounds by humans.

If the species of werewolves gathered in force to wage war, the human race would find themselves facing a savage and relentless enemy that could completely overpower all their strengths, and climb their walls like they weren't even there.

Basilisk

A sentient and sapient lizard race that was twice the physical size of a human, with unusually long lives that extended into millennia rather than the limit of a century.

They control their own population to make sure they don't expand into other race's territory, or over extend the resources of their ancestral hunting grounds.

They are a reasonable species that once went to war with the human race when a local kingdom tried to annex their territory.  When their ambassador was murdered delivering their message, the war started fast, and took the kingdom by surprise. Several cities were razed to the ground by magical expressions that overturned the the entire city, and killed all within their walls.  It took eight basilisks to complete the magic necessary to destroy a city, which told the humans one thing.

Don't make war with the basilisks, and quickly make peace while you have the ability to do so.

Varra

A race that has disappeared from the world that can make a new Varra from any other race, as long as they are given a seed.

The conversion process is sheer agony, but the results are worth the price.
