The rise of a young Fire Nation commander Xing, a survivor of a village attack-turned prodigious firebending colonel of the Fire Nation's 11th Regiment.
Taking place not long before canon, Xing seeks to keep his adoptive family in the Fire Nation military as safe, sound, and sharp as he can, even as the pieces of the puzzle that is the main story start to fall in place around him, the biggest of which is Princess Azula joining the 11th in their military duties around the Earth Kingdom.
This was an accidental find but man do I regret binge reading it in like 2 days uggh. I highly recommend this book, the intruige, character interactions, plots and side stories are FANTASTICALLY done and don't leave you disappointed. The ending feels a quick, I would have loved to have read and seen more about the future but it leaves me imagining what could have happened so I guess it'll have to make due. Definitely looking forward to more stories from thus author, keep it up!

A good Avatar fic that isn't a si.
The variety of characters are great, along with their interactions with one another. The fights are good, they dont feel forced nor stale and repetitive for a war between fire tossers and dirt throwers and the story continues at a decent pace neither to slow or fast.
Would definitely recommend giving it a try even if only vaguely familiar with The Avatar and its plot.

Excellent writings !
The Grammar is near perfect and the story flow splendidly. The 3rd person POV was really a great idea because it changes greatly from usual isekai and for a fanfiction it is surprising that charcters and their developement is so well made it change from the habitual cardboard personality.
In short GG and thanks for your work

Extremely well-done fights and political fights (with them not overstaying their welcome imo). Keeps in line with the spirit of canon with the world building while expanding upon the war aspect of atla.
If you like atla, you'll at the very least enjoy this depiction of the atla from an oc firebender's perspective. As it goes far enough from canon but retaining it's logic to demonstrate what a modern mindset could achieve in atla timeline.

Characters are very well written both their motivations and how they react to situations comes across as very genuine rather than acting for the sake of moving the plot forward or creating conflict.
More than half the story, even involving the MC (Isekai'd dude w/story knowledge), is told from the PoV of people of the world both main and side characters. We get to see them take in information and grow beyond and divergent from their canon versions in well written arcs of character development, and get differing views on the events that happened in the story.
The exact powers, history, extent of story knowledge of the MC are left pretty vague but we learn more about him as the story progresses and through interaction with the world and those around him. It is a really good example of showing, not telling, and spares the reader from overbearing lore dumps.
Finally, we come across the MC after he already has his feet under him, but before his major personal power growth periods. This may not matter to many, but this was great for me. I already know the story of Avatar and what an Isekai is and I don't need it shown or explained to me for the hundredth time.
Sprinkling in bits about the MC, and his background piecemeal means that the pacing of the story never loses momentum. Flashbacks aren't too long and get to the point, social interactions have so many layers they are as interesting as the combat, and the combat is rather direct and brutal. Nothing feels like filler.
Whether it is fundementals done well, or common pitfalls that were avoided, this story is compelling and very well written.

This is everything I could've asked for in ATLA fanfic. First of all, kudos to the author for writing this masterpiece. Unlike many fanfictions, this one mostly has OCs as the main cast and they're fleshed out just as much as the canon characters we know. It's pretty impressive of the author to write them in such as way that we can feel that they're THE main characters of this story. This is something that is often overlooked.
Along with the OC MCs, Azula is also the main character of this story. Her inclusion among the main cast doesn't feel forceful and it's done in a seamless manner. Avatar fans who hope for Azula's redemption will especially love this story. Rather than calling it redemption, this is more of a "what-if" plotline for her. What if Azula encounters 'X' in her life before she strays down the megalomaniacal-psychopathic route she does in the canon story? That's what you can expect here.
The fighting aspect of the story is mainly dealing with large-scale battles. 1v1 match-ups with the MC involved do happen but there is always a reason when it does. MC doesn't fight someone just for the sake of it or fanservice.
Politicking is also an key aspect of this story, but it generally involves characters aside from the MC, mostly because he is averse to it and the only times he deals with it is when it directly involves the Firelord. This part also gives a different outlook of how dark the world of politics is in the world of avatars, which was largely overlooked in the canon.
Overall, this is an exceptional story with engaging characters and interesting plot.

The best ATLA fanfic period. The characters are dynamic and the plot flows well. The author has a wide enough vocabulary as not to cause reading fatigue from overuse of certain words like some struggle with.
10/10 go read it!

This title is very good. Well written characters, their interactions, some politics, nice background and even how characters react to certain actions. And the best of all? Our MC doesn't looks OP, you will understand once you read it.
Like what is stated in synopsis, our MC is the one who influenced Azula into what she is like in this title. It's very different and yet looks very realistic with subtle changes. This is for those who want to see a different novel where Azula isn't crazy like in original.
Totally recommend it to newbies and anyone who is a fan of Avatar. Don't miss this enjoyable story since it is already finished!

Writing this at chapter 86: great story so far with only a couple minor complaints. The writing is amazing, the character interactions are great, and the fights are pretty good as well. The first problem I have is that Xing still hasn’t taken an L. Sure it was entertaining to read him plow through everyone in the early chapters but it got boring after awhile and everything just seems so inconsequential now. After he got heat bending I don’t think there’s anyone left that can actually beat him unless Aang goes glowy mode and that makes the story a bit boring because it feels like there’s no more hills for Xing to climb. The only other complaints I have are some minor things like how “perfect” the 11th is (There have been no internal struggles in it besides that one dumbass before the story starts which seems a bit optimistic) and how everything’s seems to be going great for the other characters as well. I’m not telling you how to write a story or anything but I’d throw in a tragedy or loss here and there so there’s actually a bit of tension when something big happens. Or maybe this is just the type of story you wanted to write and these comments are useless, because I am biased against OP mcs.
