This story has some real potential! What has been written so far feels professional and very vivid. The author is very good at putting an image in your mind and making you empathize with it. And besides that the story is entertaining and engaging enough to keep me reading. Many stories I’ll read a chapter and then get bored and switch to another book then switch back but this book doesn’t have that problem. Overall, thank you for making an interesting and engaging book author!

I enjoyed what has been written so far,

I would suggest that anyone wanting to get into this novel give it until about chapter 35 (ish) Or even skipping until then then going back to read the earlier chapters. Due to the weird start up.

Talking about the start of the story, the fact that herbalism, something the MC has been learning for years is something that continues to be an important thing all the way up until chapter 134 (were I am at currently, and the most recent chapter). Is a good sign that the author isn't just throwing stuff at a wall to see what sticks. That being a common issue with cultivation type stories, like a MC will be said to know some obscure skill or talent, then it never gets mentioned again unless the MC is actively doing something with said skill or talent, here my guy is down bad for them herbs, always on the lookout for ones that could provide him any benefits, and he knows how to keep his own garden, another nice change of pace considering in other similar scenarios the MC would just need to raw dog the one herb and then he just ends up keeping the rest of the entire supply of said herbs to himself inside a storage ring or something similar.

Towards the middle of the story, the cultivation system we have access to seems good, it is not as strict as other stories and so there is a lot of leeway. But also a lot of characters seem to have hidden/ not so hidden backgrounds, giving them access to a multitude of different cultivation systems, all based on "flow" but for all the experimentation, and by gosh has there been some ungodly things done so far in the name of discovery, we have yet to hear a more in detail explanation on how the different systems work.

(I'm new to this site not sure how the spoiler button works, so I'm doing this instead) Spoiler-

The MC has undergone "refinement" as a best term I can think of, by cold energy to the point where he has a number of benefits, even in comparison to the other people who have undergone the same refinement, he then picked up a type of manuel on how to condense your vital essence into your blood, similar to how in some vampire media, they lose access to their heart beating to pump blood, instead using their skeletal muscles to the same effect. The MC's power of regeneration side steps this issue. But I would love to see/ read about how he now has two systems of pumping blood around his body, and what cool things he could play around with due to this. Maybe even a chapter where he figures out that he has more blood now, because of increased blood pressure, that his regeneration couldn't fix, so it increased the amount of blood, increasing blood viscosity, and decreasing blood pressure. No idea if thats how that works, but I can suspend my thoughts for a bit while enjoying something that took someone else a bunch of effort.

The next thing, even if it was learned earlier technically, he has what could best be described as some Batman type nonsense. Basically the idea of the technique is that he has to learn how to control his entire body, and its a very nice combo of meditation and external exercise that I consider a awesome change in the normal cultivation trope, where the MC, does a bunch of push-ups then suddenly knows how to breathe gooder. No my guy had to sit there get his socks beaten inside and out, then sit there and really hardwire that lesson into his body. And while we skipped a bunch of the training montage, I would love to see more examples of what type of things he can do using this ability outside of combat, because realistically no matter how good at a ability you might be, if you can't use the thing whenever you feel like, then it's not mastered. I guess the one issue I have with this style of cultivation is that even though he has multiple things going on, and he is trying to get them to all fit together, none of them are as extra as I was wanting. All of his physical type cultivation seems to be additive, rather than building up to something greater. And while yes I understand that that's cause my guy is legit on that wage slave grind set currently and so does not have access to the type of cultivation that would allow him to pull any weird stuff yet, but ya know how it is, everyone's a critic. Ignoring that statement for a second, while his physical techniques not doing anything weird yet his spiritual or magical techniques are hampered by his lacking talent, something that the MC can't seem to catch a break about, and they don't seem to do anything special, or at least the things that the abilities have the ability to do, have not been fleshed out enough. So I would very much suggest that this be worked on. Other than that, great read, would recommend.

This is a fun story set in an interesting world. Definitely worth reading if you like stories where you can see the protagonist progress in strenght, knowledge and pushing through pain and sufferring. The protagonist is pragmatic and tries to use all knowledge and resources to his benefit. He is quite capable, but does not steamroll through everything. He suffers and needs to struggle through difficulties to achieve his goals.

Be aware that the world of this story is a dark and death is plentiful. Which I like but it might not be for everyone.

The writing flows pretty well and I did not notice any major grammatical flaws.

In conclusion if you like the synopsis and you often read stories with the tags you see on this one I strongly recommend to read it.
