My Wife Is A Giant Horny Dinosaur Mage (And I’m A Dinosaur Too) is a strange story.

I don’t understand it.

Don’t get me wrong, the story itself, the plot, is easy to follow and the author explained it quite well himself with the obligatory long Light Novel light-styled title. It’s short, it’s easy to understand, it’s have a clear conclusion... I just understand why.

This story isn’t a porn. At least, it isn’t intended to be a porn. Despite the fact it does have explicit scenes, it is very clear they aren’t the point of the story.

I just don’t understand what the point is.

Web novels are usually endless in nature. They are cheap, pulp, serialized novels, intended to be continued endlessly as long as the writer has the strength to do so, or as long as they produce the money. Most are amateurish, but even the professional ones reached a point where they put the soap operas to shame with the chapter count because their business model operates as the opposite reflection of traditional publishing. The free ones do it for attention, the paid ones plan to sell the new chapters endlessly, and they just go on and on until they die...

This story is over in an instant, it’s very short, shorter than a professionally published novelette would be.

It is certainly not an adventure, it is not a web novel, it is not really that much psychological, there isn’t a clear overarching conflict, no exciting events, and it is not really a romance per se (even though if I should pick any I would say romance is the closest match).

It just ends in the breeze and leaves me wondering what it was about.

You know, I understand self-inserts and wish fulfilment, as long as they have personality, they deserve the 5 out of 5 from me - if they manage to entertain me, they do work. They might not have challenges in it, but they do have conflict, plot and excitement. But they entertain, and entertain for a long time, for free.

The p*rn without a plot is usually short, yes, but does have excitement, and doesn’t leave you puzzled about what it meant, not to mention there is usually a lot of it.

This story doesn’t do it, it doesn’t promise me long entertainment that goes on and on like the web novels do, and it is not nearly pornographic enough to consider it for “that excitement”.

There is simply nothing - a typical slice of life.

For me, the 3 out 5. It would be less if it wasn’t for the horny dinosaurs, as slice-of-life stories aren’t quite for me.
