The story about a family's struggle to ensure that, above all else, their youngest escapes from the mines where he was born into slavery. Follow Alistar as he struggles through terror and tragedy, embarking on a road to discover himself and his heritage.
*The above is the novel blurb for the first book of this series. Keep in mind that this is a tragic, grimdark progression fantasy, so there are many sad moments that help to characterize the protagonist throughout the series. As for the tags, while there are a fair amount of "ecchi" moments and multiple love interests, they're not a central focus of the story.
This story is amazing and has made me feel the highs and lows of the story as if I was there. I have cried, laughed, and smiled at certain parts of the story. The characters are also fleshed out and feel like real people. I rate this a 5 stars and recommend anyone to read this just be prepared to cry. It’s sad that this story is not getting the attention it deserves. This is an amazing work.

This story has been an absolute pleasure to read literally every chapter is so artistic and poetically written which makes reading every bit of it enjoyable. This series is about a young boy who was born as a slave and the tragedies he experiences because of it. The first book is like an origin story but the best more realistic one that I have ever read, every chapter had me on the edge of my seat after a certain point in the slave arc, it was so anxious because it was so realistic and it made me really sympathise with the characters. Honestly the slave src was so sad and angsty that it made me frustrated at times because I just wanted to know if the characters were okay and then I realized that this just means the author is doing a fantastic job, the beautiful writing made it easier to stick with it and it really paid off once things began to brighten up for Alistar. The characters feel like real people even the minor ones and their personalities make their decisions and the way they behave seem natural. I've honestly cried a few times reading this story it's that powerful and other times are so wholesome that I end up smiling at my screen. The MC has a lot of potential as a mage and a swordsman and now that he's about 13 or so he is starting to show it more and more and unlike in most online novels every bit of his progress is hard earned and realistic. I usually don't like romance but the low key way the author does it makes it pretty enjoyable and seems natural, it's not a big focus of the story so far but it's present and I actually don't mind it at all. I can't wait to see how things go in this series it's quickly become one of my favorites of all time.
Will update review down the line, but for now it's a perfect story at least for me.

Very promising story, with top-notch world-building. Unfortunately, the characters are very shallow (good people good, bad people bad, no complexity to be found), and everyone is stupid. "Smart" characters fall for the dumbest traps constantly, and no one seems to have any free agency over their own decisions, being completely reactive rather than proactive. Also, the author falls into the mindset of more words = better story, with huge chunks of each chapter (especially after the slavery arc) being either completely redundant or pure fluff devoid of any narrative substance. All-in-all this is a really good read, and I expect the author will only improve with experience.
