An absolutely fantastic story about creating the first fully immersive VR.
A man fully paralyzed in a car accident gains a new life in the digital world. It starts with illegal shenanigans (his death is faked and he is sold for use in experiments to create the first fully immersive VR). From there it it just goes up. The story mostly gives you warm fuzzy feelings that make a warm, thick, micro-fleece bathrobe and a lapful of kittens seem like burlap and hedgehogs in comparison. Towards the ends it hits you in the feels in a different way. Have tissues handy.
It left me wishing it was reality and asking where I could sign up.
This story has depth beyond what you might expect.
It drew me in at first with humor. Our MC is quite witty and good with one-liners and references. But what happens as you continue to read is that you care about all these characters, and behind the humor there is all this deep connection and emotional moments. I really want things to work out for several characters in the story (without spoiling anything)
Beyond this, I'm such a sucker for these farming sims and the mechanics within them. Our author handles them very well here and though the system is in place, its not overbearing or tedious and its fun to watch our MC slowly level up, gather, and improve.
