Much to the gaming world's disappointment, Nael "Demon" Walker, regarded by many as the best youth professional, announced his retirement from eSports. From a young age, he had consistently dominated major tournaments of many games. But it seemed like that era had begun to pass.
Nael's reason for retiring was to focus on college. Despite having obtained enough money to last him and his sister two lifetimes, he insisted on completing his studies. For a long time, his only recorded appearances were during his weekly streams.
But unbeknownst to everyone, Nael had secretly made a return. The world's first VRMMORPG, Antoria Online, was kicking up a storm. It boasted complete freedom of gameplay and an astonishing similarity to the visuals of the real world.
Unlike before, Nael wasn't planning on becoming the best. No, that, he had already proven. All he wanted to do was experience the game in its entirety, competing be damned.

Once in a while, diamonds in the rough that have good qualities, hidden from mainstream (trending) exposure pop up in SH. These novels tend to get people back into reading in SH, and are some of the novels you can look forward to seeing once in a while. This has a good chance of being one of them. Though I do admit I found this in novelupdates recommendations under one of its novels, where random novels pop up.
This is a story about a gamer god playing a VRMMO after the ranks of the game have already been set. This takes place in the far future, 23rd century I think? A plot like this is already in the mainstream, rising up to the top, you know the drill.
The thing is that he plays for fun this time, instead of dominance. The liveliness of the game is emphasized in the humanlike npcs so it's like watching slice of life in a second fantasy world from a sci-fi pov.
If you read the tags he does get romance, no harem tag too which is good, and the grammar has no noticeable errors, even if you look for them, they only popped up once IIRC. Gets you hyped up immediately, then slows the pace to SOL. This concludes my review, I'll give it a rating so the story updates more. Nice.
