Pradma Havn

AKA The Whole Goddess

This divinity is the most revered in Prath, and probably in other continents as well.

Pradma Havn is an expression of the Divine Language, used to refer to that divinity.

  • Pradma means divinity or Goddess
  • Havn means complete

According to religious records, she cannot exist in the lower ream (in which humans live) because her divine aura would obliterate it. So she is rumored to only exist in the divine realm.

She supposedly divided herself in 2 distinct divinities Pradma Hazn and Pradma Hafta, dividing her divine aura so she could appear in the lower realm without destroying it. This event is known by all as The Great Separation.

Pradma Havn is at the center of the practices of the Havana Temple whose ultimate aim is to make the divinity whole again.

Pradma Hazn

AKA The goddess of life and fertility

This divinity is one half of the divided Pradma Havn. Her sister and other half, Pradma Hafta is her exact opposite.

In the Divine Language:

  • Pradma means divinity or Goddess
  • Hazn means to grow or to prosper

As the goddess of life and fertility, Pradma Hazn is associated with

  • Elements: Water and Earth
  • Type of magic: Healing and Molding magic

After Pradma Havn, Pradma Hazn is the most revered by the common people as they consider (rightly or wrongly) that she is the half that is closer to The Whole Goddess.

This divinity is loved by all as the goddess of love and fertility but also, and by extension, the goddess of love, the harvest, creation, nature and peace.

Culturally, she is associated with what people call feminine energy. She is said to be the feminine, nurturing, loving and caring side of Pradma Havn.

  • When they get married, women (no matter the elemental magic they wield, if they possess magic) are said to accept Hazn's duty. Which means they vow to give birth to healthy children and to behave in a caring manner toward their family.

Nota Bene: Although Prath's society does not forbid women from being the leader of their family or inheriting the title of their parents (for nobles), misconceptions based on the role supposedly given to women by Pradma Hazn make it hard for them to be considered as anything than mothers and wives. Because of these ideas, they have a hard time being accepted as leaders even when they demonstrate great power and intelligence.

Pradma Hafta

AKA The goddess of death and destruction

This divinity is one half of the divided Pradma Havn. Her sister and other half, Pradma Hazn is her exact opposite.

In the Divine Language:

  • Pradma means divinity or Goddess
  • Hafta means Death or Extinction

As the goddess of death and destruction, Pradma Hafta is associated with

  • Elements: Fire and Air
  • Type of magic: Destruction and Physical magic

Pradma Hafta is the least revered out of the 3 goddesses by the common people. They fear her greatly to the point of using her name to scare children or to wish bad luck on someone:

  • "If you keep misbehaving, Pradma Hafta will come at night and take you away"
  • "May Pradma Hafta bring a thousand ailments on you."

However people pray to her during funerals, to wish that the soul of the dead travels safely to the Infinite Sea of Souls, her domain.

It is also to Pradma Hafta that people turn in times of war, wishing defeat on their opponent and victory for them.

This divinity is both feared and respected by all as the goddess of death and destruction but also, and by extension, the goddess of negative emotions, catastrophes and scourges, power (both political and military), violence and war.

Culturally, she is associated with what people call masculine energy. She is said to be the masculine, warmongering, powerful and aggressive side of Pradma Havn.

  • When a country prepares for a war, a gigantic feast in the honor of Pradma Hafta is organized. Since almost every country does that, people consider the that those who win are those who manage to satiate Hafta's never-ending appetite for food, blood and destruction.
  • In politics as well, it is advised to channel Pradma Hafta's powerful and cunning aspects.

The Great Separation

"It is the event that enabled the Whole Goddess, Pradma Havn, to enter the lower realm. Well, according to the Temple’s records at least.

Since the Goddess could not enter our realm in her original form without her divine aura completely destroying it, she divided herself in two. She took the form of Pradma Hazn who embodies life and fertility, and the form of Pradma Hafta who embodies death and destruction."

- As told by Hazel-

The Gift

"The lower realm used to be a dangerous place for humanity. Beasts and semi-human creatures called Stigmas used to roam this realm alongside humans.

Seeing how the humans she created herself were left vulnerable and weak against these other creatures, Pradma Hazn went to her sister Pradma Hafta who created the other creatures and asked for a favor. She asked that they joined their forces and spread their essence to humans, granting them the Gift of a divine soul that would enable them to wield the goddesses powers and thus be better equipped to survive in the lower realm.

However, doing so would mean that the goddesses would disappear from the lower realm, leaving it without a ruler. That is why Pradma Hafta accepted under the condition that the Core Soul of each Goddess would be transferred to two chosen persons called Renascendas who would replace them in the lower realm and maintain its balance.

One would be Pradma Hazn reborn, Hazn Renascenda, while the other would be the embodiment of Pradma Hafta, Hafta Renascenda.

It is said that their reunion would bring forth Pradma Havn and an era of absolute void."

-As told by Elias Vedar-

From a very young age, Pratheens learn this tale by heart, word for word.

This story plays a huge part in the New Year festivities.

Miscellaneous information about Prath's imperial family

The Tale of the 2 Lovers (Sun & Moon)

Vorace (creature)

Vorace

These creatures are native of the South. Their breeding ground are the Cresci Mountains, they seldom venture outside of it nowadays.

Voraces are shape-shifting creatures that take the shape of the animals they have eaten. Their shape-shifting abilities are part of their hunting strategy. They eat an animal and take it's form to lure its natural predators. They eat these predators to continue climbing up the food chain and have access to a bigger food source. They are omnivorous and can vary in size depending on which form they take.

These creatures are very pernicious. If left unchecked they can become a real problem for the common population. There have been cases of Human-Voraces in the past but precautions are now taken to prevent that from happening.

Ever since the Vedar Estate was moved to the borders, there have been less sightings of Vorace. The voraces around the estate seem to have been somewhat domesticates. Despite still being wild animals, they do not invade the estate or attack the staff and knights.

Nota Bene: Voraces after their shifting, are perfect copies of the animals they imitate. After dissecting a few of them in different forms, zoologists have found that their internal organs are indistinguishable from the animals they imitate.

Stigmas

The Havana Temple

Haftan Mage

A mage who can wield Fire or Air magic.

Haftan mages are born with their abilities.

They are better suited for offensive magic and combat. However many have found innovative ways to used their haftan abilities.

  • Use of internal fire magic as a heater during cold weather
  • Use of fire magic for industrial means (factories, blacksmith, ...)
  • Use of Air magic to increase the speed of a mean of transportation
  • Use or Air magic to levitate and even fly
  • Use of Air magic to increase physical strength and speed

Nota Bene: Appart from Renascendas, no mage can wield  more than 1 type of magic. Even Renascendas are limited to 2. The Hafta Renascenda can only wield fire and air magic.

Hazene Mage

A mage who can wield Water or Earth magic.

Hazene mages are born with their abilities.

They are better suited for healing and molding magic. As such they have more creative freedom when it comes to the use of their abilities. Howerver, hazene mages can also use offensive magic; it is even very common.

Nota Bene: Appart from Renascendas, no mage can wield  more than 1 type of magic. Even Renascendas are limited to 2. The Hazn Renascenda can only wield water and earth magic.

Hafta Renascenda

Hazn Renascenda

Smein hafta

In Ancient language, it means 'Sweet death'.

  • 'Smein' means 'sweet'
  • 'Hafta' means 'death''extinction'

It refers to a shrub whose fruits and flowers are known for their sweet and fragrant aroma.

However, anything about that plant (from its roots to it's fruits) is highly poisonous.

It only takes about 5 minutes to act and can be consumed or just touched for its effects to work.

Nota Bene: It is called 'Sweet death' because its victims often commented on the unique flavor of the fruit or the amazing smell of the flower before they started foaming at the mouth and died.

Location
The Empire of Prath

Prath used to be a small kingdom 5000 years ago. It was a kingdom founded by Demetrius Praetor.

Prath became a kingdom when it united with the bigger kingdom of Zahar ruled by Demetrius' closest friend.

The Dukedom of Zahar

Origin of Zahar

  • The Dukedom of Zahar used to be a kingdom. In the Divine Language, Zahar means king. Zahar was the family name of the rulers of that kingdom. But as less and less people spoke the Divine Language and more and more people spoke the common tongue, Zahar became Zedar and finally Vedar.
  • The first king of Prath and the king of Zahar were very close friends at the time, so much so that they decided to unite their territory through matrimony. The princess of Zahar married the prince of Prath. Their union create the Empire of Prath. They had 2 sons, the eldest became the next Emperor while the youngest became the first duke of Zahar.
  • The dukedom of Zahar was the only territory in Prath that was not conquered. It can explained why it is the biggest territory that belongs to a noble in Prath and why the Vedar family is called the Second Imperial family in the South.
  • The union that created the Empire was the last time that there was a matrimonial union between the Vedars and the Imperial Family. Elea Vedar was supposed to marry the current Emperor but she died.

Geography of Vedar

  • The dukedom extends to most of the south of the continent, it became even bigger in the last 10 years with the addition of the Cresci Mountains and the Tousca Desert.
  • The Cresci Mountains and the Tousca Desert are seemingly useless territories (a vorace-infested mountain and a dry desert) but the duke has managed to use them to his advantage in secret. The Tousca desert became the ideal training ground for Zahar's large army as well as an economic assets with its hidden mines. The Cresci mountains provides the estate a better protection than a gate or a magic barrier as well as the access to a seemingly endless supply of Voraces.
  • In general, the dukedom is a very prosperous land, with enough agricultural fields to feed twice its population.
  • The dukedom is in the far south of the Empire. The Far South of the dukedom is characterized by unbearable heat and desert lands (Tousca desert)
  • The middle of the dukedom has plenty of lakes and thermal baths, and  the near perpetual good weather makes it a great vacation destination for nobles all around Prath.
  • The upper part of the dukedom is characterized by very fertile lands and great valleys.

The Vedar Estate

When Elias' father was still alive, the Vedar Estate used to be at the center of Zahar. However, after he became the duke, Elias destroyed it, built a Temple in its place and built a bigger Vedar Estate at the entrance of the Cresci Mountains.

Due to its position, the estate is not completely surrounded by a gate, most of the estate is surrounded the forest of the mountain.

However, Voraces have never attacked anyone in the estate.

The Cresci Mountains

The Cresci Mountains is a newly conquered territory that is now a part of Zahar. It was given to Zahar as an apology for the death of Elea Vedar.

The Mountains are known to be extremely dangerous as it is the breeding ground of Voraces.

The Infinite Sea of Souls

This world's version of the afterworld.

The Sea of Souls is the domain of Pradma Hafta, the Goddess of death. Good or bad, every human soul that dies goes there.

Her dominion on the Sea of Souls shows that Pradma Hafta is the side of Pradma Havn that controls human souls. She can take them, remove them, transform them and transfer them at will.

It is thanks to that power that she managed to swap Hazel Jennings and Hazel Vedar's souls when the oth of them were weakened.

Kingdom of Phenicia
Phenicia is the most powerful kingdom in the neighboring continent.

For the moment, they have economic ties with Prath since Phenicia is the biggest supplier of Ftar and Znar stones in the world.

Their production of stones is due to the fact that the whole kingdom is above underground mines of Ftar and Znar stones. Moreover, they also have the highest population of Stigmas, who are able to absorb and transfer magic.

However, with Prath's expansion, Phenicia has grown quite wary (even suspicious) of their business partner. Especially since the number of Stigmas has started decreasing in Prath for the last 20 years.

Phenicia is secretly spying on Prath to discover what is happening to the Stigmas and to prepare for war if Prath ever wants to attack them.

The Royal family

  • The Phenician royal family is mostly composed of powerful Stigmas.
  • The Kingdom gives more importance to primogeniture than gender when it comes to succession. Even in the royal family. That is why, when matters of succession are concerned, there are often factional strifes and brutal conflicts between siblings.
  • Aidon and Ishtar's relationship is more peaceful than their predecessors but it is still heavily based on competition. Both of them praise each others abilities and insist that it would be a shame to assassinate the other since the kingdom would lose a person of talent.

The people

  • The people of Phenicia have very distinctive features. They are known for their dark skin and and curly hair. They are also quite tall compared to the people of Prath.

Status: chapter 5 – cuteness is a girl’...

So far it is wonderfully written. And I look forward to more.

There is no big grammatical errors that I have noticed or broken the flow. So far the characters have some depth but it is hard to tell with the little bit we have so far, but I expect wonderful character development. The lore of the world is fairly deep and seemingly well thought out. As for story hard to tell since not much had happened yet but it isn't stagnant or moving too fast so far. Hopefully the protagonist isn't caught up with feeling useless or undervaluing themselves but hopefully from the tags and the summary they will recognize their power and have Atleast a normal human level of dignity, if so I believe this can be a very good fiction. I will update this once there is more chapters, but for now I would highly recommend you give it a try with how short it is currently and the potential it has.
