Author Note/Game Master advice: "SAVING SCRIBBLIA - READERS NEEDED - DEATH GARENTED" is a Quest. However, it is not a quest one might see in video games. For those unfamiliar with that term, a Quest is a story/game that requires the input of the readers, either through polls or comments. This is heavily inspired by the Choose Your Own Adventure books: your vote or comment can change the decision of the main character, changing the course of the story as a result.

This is a concept that has existed on the Internet for years. Various Internet forums were created especially to host Quests. I did not see much on Scribble Hub, however, so I'm making one.

I'm in no way a great writer. English is not my first language (I'm french). I'll most likely drop this quest in a few days. However, I still hope to bring smiles and laughs to Scribble Hub.

I raised an eyebrow, finding it a bit suspicious. I plugged in one point into 'endurance,' watching as the value in Cheat Engine, and the number of free stat points decreased to nine. Not convinced, I added two zeroes to the value in Cheat Engine. The amount of available stat points didn't change on the site yet, but I spent another stat point on endurance to let the value update, and... bam.

799 stat points ready to be deployed.

I always had this thrill in my heart whenever I could readily fuck up the balance in a single-player game without having to look up a cheat table or a trainer.

I nodded with satisfaction, my finger a bit tired from the clicking. Endurance, Dexterity, Strength, Intelligence, and Charisma were all set to 200. I held back a cheeky grin as I clicked on next.

It let me through; I thanked god that my minimal effort wasn't in vain. The screen darkened, turning into a full black, before suddenly, a pop-up appeared, asking me if I was ready, with only a yes button underneath.

I clicked on yes. Suddenly, I realized the light of my computer turned completely off. It had crashed entirely. Had I accidentally unplugged it or something? As I stood off my chair to check on the wires, I felt my head grow increasingly light. Soon, darkness crept in from the sides of my vision, and the feeling of being watched whispered in my head.

I had never passed out before, but I had a faint feeling that I would experience it for the first time today. In the forefront of my mind, though, was a different thought: What is that feeling on my leg?

The blizzard rises day after day in the Frostbanks, forcing numbing snow and deadly winds onto the land and its people. In defiance to nature itself, the city of Oglios stands amidst the storm and even thrives thanks to the Suntower's protection, an artifact of old now relegated to simple fixture, its secrets fiercely guarded by the Scorched Circle, whose members regulate the flow of Returned, husks of the departed, in and out of the city.

Part of the larger nation of Gonphar, Oglios has obligations to respect if it wants to keep its relative independence, and the city's elite busies itself to fulfill their orders, supplying Gonphar as a whole with cheap labor in the ways of countless Returned. Meanwhile, the specter of war rears its dreadful head from across the mountains as border tensions with the Ehodan Kingdoms increase. Yet most ignore the threat, having more pressing concerns right within Oglios where warmth is limited, and free space is at a premium.

Three individuals converge during these trying times, lost in their personal struggles.

The Echo, an outsider in several degrees, returns to a family still mourning their mother's passing to uncover her wrongdoings. He would fulfill a promise, and perhaps find himself in the process, all the while having to conceal who and what he is.
The Dutiful reaches into criminal matters by authority of the Office of Inquiries. Held by guilt over her choices, she struggles to make it day-by-day, turning to Nostalgia for release. A thirst for vengeance fuels her will and keeps her going towards the ultimate goal.
The Collector, a mortician by trade, dwells in opposite circles. Pulled by decades old ties to the Circle, he stays loyal to the city in his own way by moving through the underworld in order to uproot corruption.

This is a work in progress, obviously. I want this to be a fully fleshed out novel eventually. It has a lot of moving pieces and things I'm still figuring out which is mostly still in my mind but I still wanted to put it out there, and hopefully get some feedback! Some chapters will very likely end up getting scrapped from the final product as I dig further into the story, and I will also go back and revisit older chapters to fix grammar, continuity errors, etc.
